Sometimes... you can't make this **** up. From the quotable Dustin Penner:

"I woke up fine, sat down to eat and it locked right up. It never happened to me before. I couldn’t stand up. I was probably at the third stage of evolution....

“Apparently it’s one of those mysterious things, where you can throw it out (from) sneezing. I just leaned over to dip into some delicious pancakes that my wife made.”

And sometimes... it's just too easy:

Remember when those Toronto Maple Leaf fans were throwing waffles onto their ice of their home team?

LA Kings fans... assuming Dustin Penner gets back into the lineup for the Kings... you know what to do. YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO!

Recently The Globe and Mail's columnist, Eric Duhatschek, earmarked tonight's Los Angeles Kings - Washington Capitals matchup as an important one... in terms of showcasing the 2 most dissapointing teams this NHL season.

"The Kings and Capitals both joined the ranks of teams purging their coaches. Six in all joined the hired-to-be-fired brigade, including Terry Murray in L.A., where he was replaced by Darryl Sutter and Bruce Boudreau, replaced in Washington by Dale Hunter.

Rarely has a year seen so many highly paid, high-end talents sputter off to singularly mediocre starts - Anze Kopitar in L.A., and Alex Ovechkin in Washington were just two players not providing very much bang for their bucks."

Trust me... nothing can be more disappointing than losing 1-0 to the Columbus Blue Jackets. Ok... maybe one more thing.

The Most Bizarre Injuries in MLB History

If there is one thing we can all agree that we love about sports, it is when players get hurt in bizarre and unbelievable ways. Penner vs Pancakes

This is a completely non-Red Wings related bit of news...but I just had to share it - especially since we're all down in the dumps today.Let me preface this story with the fact that I had heard about this a few days ago on the NHL Home Ice XM station in my car and was laughing hysterically.  But, like many things in life...I completely forgot about it by the time I got home...
