Found October 31, 2011 on The Royal Half:

Maybe it's just me... but I have a feeling that this past weekend the Los Angeles Kings were a little too preoccupied thinking of their Halloween costumes.

The Los Angeles Kings lose 3-2 to the Phoenix Coyotes AND to the Colorado Avalanche. But let's not dwell on that. Instead, let's play our new favorite game show here at The Royal Half...

"Which One of These Players is NOT a NHL Defenseman???"

The answer is... F, Dustin Penner.
No really... eff Dustin Penner.

A) Rob Scuderi
B) Alec Martinez
C) Jack Johnson
D) Matt Greene
E) Willie Mitchell
F) Dustin Penner
G) Drew Doughty

We also would have accepted the answer "Jack Johnson, when trying to clear the puck in his own zone."

I know the Dustin Penner hate amongst LA Kings fans is higher than it's ever been in the 9 months that he's been an LA King. And now the obligatory trade rumors are starting. I do think that if Dean Lombardi was able to find someone to trade for Dustin Penner that the return would be high... just look at the company he's been keeping in terms of scoring this season.

Could easily get a 3rd round Conditional Pick for any of those guys.

Sadly, the play of Dustin Penner was not the scariest thing I saw this weekend.

The Kings are off until Thursday when they take on the Western Conference leading Edmonton Oil-WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT? Hopefully by then Simon Gagne will be back to 100%. Because if the success of the LA Kings season is dependent on the health of Simon Gagne... this is only going to end badly.

Kings Trying To Find Penner’s Offensive Side

from Rich Hammond of LA Kings Insider, Will a return to the third line get Dustin Penner’s production going? Penner spent the previous two games in a first-line look, with Anze Kopitar and Justin Williams, and the result was one shot on goal, one minor penalty and a minus-2 rating. So, the Kings will try something different. With first-line winger Simon Gagne expected to return...

Eklund: Rangers and Oilers talking Big Deal? Penner?

Two separate rumors out there...One involving the Rangers and the Oilers...the other that Dustin Penner could be headed east... More to come...some interesting stuff out there this Halloween....out trick or treating with kids...more this evening..

Kings LW Gagne to sit out vs. Oilers

Los Angeles Kings left wing Simon Gagne will miss Sunday's game against the Edmonton Oilers with a "middle-body injury", the team announced. Gagne did not practice on Friday, although it was thought to be just a maintenance day for the 31-year-old Quebec native. He then sat out Saturday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Pacific Division rival Phoenix Coyotes. Trent Hunter...

Kings Fall To The Avs 3-2

The Los Angeles Kings wrapped up their three game road trip Sunday night in Colorado, where they suffered a 3-2 loss in regulation to the Avalanche. Although they were unable to come out with a point, they played 60 minutes of skilled, fast-paced hockey and there were several positives to be taken away from the outcome. The Kings dominated the first two periods outshooting the...

Well, November is upon us. Or as I like to call it... the month when the Los Angeles Kings start growing mustaches and play like complete ****. Don't believe me? 2010-20115-7 2009-20107-6 2008-20097-4-2 2007-20084-6-1 2006-20075-6-2 Sure, 2008-2009 was alright, but a lot of good finishing 26th overall did that season. Of course, all the Los Angeles Kings are growing...

Kings lose first road game of the season

DENVER -- After the final horn sounded and the Colorado Avalanche had won their first home game of the season, the players stood at center ice and raised their sticks to the crowd. It has been a long time since fans at Pepsi Center had something to cheer about and the team wanted to savor the moment with them. "It's a nod to them for coming out and paying their money,...

Kings fall on the road to Avalanche, 3-2

Anze Kopitar and Scott Parse score for L.A., but Colorado is able to post its first home victory of the season.Anze Kopitar and Scott Parse score for L.A., but Colorado is able to post its first home victory of the season.

Duchene's goal decisive as Avalanche finally wins at home

With the NHL's best road record (6-1) but the only team to have failed to produce a point at home, the Avalanche made some amends in Sunday night's 3-2 victory over the Los Angeles Kings at the Pepsi Center.

Matthew Barry: "The Cooler"

Does anyone remember the film “The Cooler” with William H Macy? It’s about a guy Vegas hires to sit next to people at the tables who are on winning streaks because he’s such a jinx, everyone around him goes cold. Dustin Penner has done just that this season and unfortunately tonight for Williams and Kopitar, he was inserted onto their line with the injury to...
