Questions, Questions by @LCJS

Is Zatkoff the future at goaltender? Questions, questions, I have so many questions. Heading into this upcoming season, which begins October 3rd against the New Jersey Devils, I'm left with big questions about how the team is going to handle some of the major issues they have. First and foremost, I have to wonder about the goaltending situation. Tomas Vokoun...

The Rivalry Is About To Begin

from Josh Yohe of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, The Penguins and Red Wings never have had a rivalry — they just happened to have great teams that produced two consecutive classic series in 2008 and 2009 — but, because of realignment, one finally might develop. They will meet three times every regular season, including twice at Joe Louis Arena this season. Detroit goalie...

Preseason Thoughts: Game 6 vs Detroit

Welcome back Pens fans! If you’re new or have forgotten what I do in the postgame thoughts, here’s a quick introduction/recap. Speaking of, don’t expect recaps. It’s purely thoughts and analysis of specific plays and players. I hate +/-, so I do my own goal assessments and award a “+” if a player contributes to a goal for and a “-“ if a player is at fault for a goal...

Sidney Crosby, Patrick Kane Featured on Sports Illustrated Covers, SI Predicts Blackhawks to Win Stanley Cup

The surprising news, perhaps, is that the NHL has made the cover of Sports Illustrated, an event that occurs just a handful of times a year. The unsurprising part, however, is who will be on the cover. SI has decided to give hockey a little love on its upcoming issue, which will feature the NHL preview. It shouldn’t come as much of a shock, though, that the two regional covers...

John Jaeckel: Hawks Drop One In OT

Follow JJ on Twitter @jaeckel! Sorry, for the late bog today; had to deal with the sudden passing of a close friend and a true hockey fan: John J. "Jack" Ford, 1936-2013, may he rest in peace. Again, it's so hard to use the preseason as a measuring stick. Playing mostly prospects and rookies last night against a Penguin roster that included Sidney Crosby, Evgeni...
