No. 1 Goat: Deryk Engelland, Pittsburgh Penguins
Engelland activated a beacon for the league's department of player safety after hitting Chicago's Marcus Kruger into the boards during the first period of play. The hit ended Kruger's night and caused an immediate retaliation from Blackhawks forward John Scott. While Scott was hit with a game misconduct, a fighting major, and an instigator penalty, Engelland only served a fighting major.Watch the hit below:

No. 2. Goat: Nashville's Powerplay
After finding themselves down 2-0 late in the first period, the Predators caught a break with having multiple power play opportunities, especially in the second period. The Capitals would basically hand the Predators four minutes of advantage time after getting called for too many men and a delay of game penalty. The night ended with a 4-1 Capitals victory but it could have been a very different outcome.

It's understandable why this post was made. Derek and/or Adam (no idea who wrote it) is a Penguins fan and, especially with the Pens defense suffering from every injury right now, it would hurt the Penguins if Engelland missed any time. It's also tough watching...

Deryk Engelland can expect a call from Shanny
This is why I like the NHL; a player dishes out what I would classify as a dirty bush league check on an opposing player. His teammate who happens to be trailing the play takes issue with the questionable hit and challenges the offending player to a fight.
In this case Blackhawks heavy weight John Scott, reacted appropriately to the questionable hit, came to his teammates aid...

Penguins Defenseman Deryk Engelland Suspended Three Games For Hit On Marcus Kruger
It was a real blemish on one of the more exciting games to take place in the NHL this season. In the first period of the Blackhawks’ 3-2 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday, Deryk Engelland left his feet in a check of young Hawks center Marcus Kruger.

NHL players are really making Brendan Shanahan's Christmas week much busier than it should be.
