Tuukka Rask made some big saves tonight, but the defense left him hanging a little too much. NewYork City, Madison Square Garden. The Rangers came out hungry as Marian Gaborik scored two goals, the lead was 2-0 going into the intermission. The second period started as Lucic came cruising down the lane to get stuffed by Henrik. The Bruins would continue the energy as they would score 2 goals, one coming on the power play with a slappy from Hamilton tipped in from Marchand (second of the year), and Milan Lucic (second of the year) knocking in the rebound after Chara led a 3 on 1 charge. The Rangers would quickly answer as Taylor Pyatt capitalized on a pass from Derek Stepan. The score was 3-2 Rangers going into the last intermission. The third started with a lot of energy from the Bruins. It took nearly 3/4 of the quarter for Horton to tie the game. The penalty kill came up huge at the end of the period killing a 5 on 3 Rangers advantage. Tuukka came up huge at the end of the peri...

Tuukka Rask Isn’t a Big Fan of Shootouts, Unless He’s Just Watching Them

BOSTON — Tuukka Rask has made a habit of winning hockey games during his NHL tenure but when it comes to shootouts, he’s far from perfect. The young goaltender doesn’t have an awful record in shootouts, but with the Bruins’ win over the Jets on Monday, he raises his record in the game-ending showdowns to 9-7 for his career. It’s not a very well-kept secret that many hockey...

Why you dont have to worry about Marian Gaborik

Gaborik goes to the net, something that’s he does more and more as a Ranger This isn’t just about Marian Gaborik breaking out in the biggest of big ways with the hat trick against Boston last night. This is about his overall performance. Throughout the game Gaborik went to the net looking for chances, for scraps, and for rebounds. He wasn’t afraid to control the puck along...

Second Look: Tuukka Rask making snow angels all night long

Tuukka Rask can put up fantastic numbers. He's proven that over the years while being Tim Thomas' backup/1B (or was he 1A?) goaltender. 2013 - 1.95 GAA, .926 SV% 2012-2011 - 2.05 GAA, .929 SV% 2011-2010 - 2.67 GAA, .918 SV% 2010-2009 - 1.97 GAA, .931 SV% The two big questions coming into this season was how his groin would hold up and could he perform...

Boston Bruins steal a point in New York

Tuukka Rask’s play was not enough for the Bruins to win two points in New York The other day I wrote about how in the past the Boston Bruins came out slow and tired during matinee games, likely due to a night previous of crazy partying or whatever the kids do these days. That didn’t happen on Monday afternoon even though it was an early-season matinee and the opponent wasn...

Video: Marian Gaborik’s OT Winning Goal Against Boston

…. great stuff! This was an amazing goal that I hope propels the Rangers to a winning streak. Marian Gaborik getting a hat trick in only the third game is always a great thing for these Rangers. Let’s hope his teammates follow suit now.

Game 4 Preview: Islanders -- Rask slated for fourth start

The Bruins return to the Garden after their brief visit to New York. Against the Rangers the defense, well, looked like this: We expect that to not happen again tonight against the NY Islanders. A Claude Julien team just doesn't have long stretches of awful defense like that. Expect tonight's defense to be a lot more like this: The Islanders are currently...

Rangers Finally Playing Like Stanley Cup Favorites They Are as Bruins Withstand Furious Assault (Video)

The Rangers are expected to contend for a Stanley Cup this season. Problem is, their first two games of the year didn’t do a whole lot to make that expectation a reality. On Wednesday, though, the Blueshirts came out firing against the Bruins and Tuukka Rask, and Boston was probably lucky to be trailing by only two goals after one period. NESN Nation’s Dan Duquette is impressed...

Give Tuukka a break

I stated before the season that if the Bruins win a cup this year, it will be because Tuukka Rask stepped up and played like one of the best goalies in the NHL. Thus far, he is proving to be up to the task. In 3 games, Tuukka has stopped 75 of 81 shots, a .926 save percentage and 1.95 GAA. That is the type of goaltending that will keep the Bruins in contention until season's...

Gaborik’s Hat Trick Lifts Blueshirts to OT Victory

Sometimes, someone just needs to step up and put the puck in the net to help his club win a hockey game. Tonight against the Boston Bruins, it was New York Rangers' forward Marian Gaborik who scored an overtime goal to give himself a hat trick (14th of his career) and more importantly, his team, a 4-3 victory. These were two points that Rangers' badly needed and Gaborik...

‘Tuukka Time’ Strikes Again for Bruins as Islanders Try Rusty Rick DiPietro in Potentially Lopsided Matchup (Video)

Tuukka Rask has been stellar between the pipes for the Bruins so far, so coach Claude Julien appears ready to ride his goalie’s hot streak. Rask will start his fourth straight game to start the season on Friday night, with Rick DiPietro getting the nod for the Islanders for his first start since 2011. It would appear to be a matchup slanted in the Bruins’ favor, but DiPietro...

NY Rangers Marian Gaborik scores goal after nice passing from teammates (Video)

With the NHL back in full force, the New York Rangers faced off tonight against the Boston Bruins to renew an age-old rivalry. The Rangers scored the first goal of the game after some nice passing found New York forward Marian Gaborik who deked Tuukka Rask for the score:

Gaborik’s Hat-Trick Lifts Rangers Over Bruins In OT

Rangers 4, Bruins 3 (OT) The Bruins headed into the Big Apple on Wednesday night for a nationally televised rematch of last Saturday’s season-opener against the Rangers, which the B’s won 3-1. Both teams had two games under their belt in this shortened season heading into Wednesday’s “Rivalry Night” – the Bruins undefeated after beating the Jets in a shootout on Monday...

Rangers 4, Bruins 3 (OT)

NEW YORK -- Marian Gaborik's third goal of the game, 27 seconds into overtime, sent hats flying onto the rink while giving the New York Rangers their first win of the season and the Boston Bruins their first defeat. Gaborik completed his hat trick and the Rangers' 4-3 win at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday night by tapping in a deflection of his own miss on a breakaway...

Zdeno Chara scored the tiebreaking goal early in the third period and Tuukka Rask made 24 saves, lifting the Boston Bruins to a 4-2 win over the New York Islanders on Friday night.
