After suffering a concussion last week, the Bruins asked Shawn Thornton to settle down. So that’s when Gillette asked him to pucker up. The B’s enforcer, who has been shelved for a week, was invited to Gillette’s “Kiss and Tell” event on Wednesday in Boston while his teammates were preparing for a 2-1 win in Montreal. And what would a facial hair event be without a hockey player talking about the traditional playoff beard? Yahoo! Sports’ Puck Daddy broke the ice and asked Thornton what his wife thinks of the postseason face-fuzz phenomenon. “[She] loves the excitement, but not a fan of the old making out when I have a full beard,” he said. “But she’ll put up with it for a Stanley Cup ring, that’s for sure. “[Gillette] invited me down,” he said when asked of his involvement in the event. “[I] just finished doing some media. They took some photos of me because I’m so pretty. This is the last stop on the tour of 15 cities. I’ll be here to meet them and greet them. “Not a very strenuous activity, to tell you the truth. I’m not sure why they’re paying me,” he joked. In addition to praising Tuukka Rask (“he’s the consummate teammate”) and the B’s early success (“the learning curve right out the gate with the quick training camp wasn’t a big deal for us”), Thornton was asked if there were any Bruins teammates that would fall victim to a Manti Te’o- like catfish hoax. “I think Tyler Seguin probably has a few hundred fake girlfriends on the Internet,” he said with a laugh. Probably to go with a couple dozen real girlfriends? Just a thought.
