NY Rangers Blog:
Larry Brooks at the New York Post reports that former Ranger Fedor Tyutin's six-year contract extension that kicks in next season and runs through 2017-18 at $4.5 million per year will keep the Rangers away from pursuing the Blue Jacket defenseman....the one thing the Rangers could use on the backend is a little more snarl which Tyutin would surely bring. But at $4.5 million for the next six years I'd have to agree with Brooks here and say the Rangers need to pass. Especially with McIlrath expected to be ready in two years....FYI, Tyutin was a -4 last night during the Blue Jackets 9-2 loss to the Flyers.Remember to follow me on Twitter & Facebook or e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org.

If Scott Arniel keeps his job beyond Saturday night's 9-2 evisceration of his Columbus Blue Jackets by the Philadelphia Flyers, it's either an act of sadism or the ultimate acknowledgement that sacrificing the coach is a perfunctory act in a hopeless season.
