Defenseman Mike Green netted a pair of power-play goals and added two assists as the Washington Capitals cruised to a 7-1 home triumph over the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday in a battle of the lone remaining undefeated teams in the NHL. Seven-time Norris Trophy winner Nicklas Lidstrom played in his 1,500th career game, becoming the 14th player in NHL history to accomplish the feat. The 41-year-old Swede assisted on Niklas Kronwall's second-period goal, but the Red Wings couldn't solve Tomas Vokoun again. Mathieu Perreault tallied twice and Nicklas Backstrom extended his points streak to five games with a goal and an assist as Washington (7-0-0) continued its franchise-best start to the campaign. Green opened the scoring just 21 seconds into Todd Bertuzzi's boarding penalty by wristing a shot past Ty Conklin.
