After Nashville’s practice this morning, Barry Trotz addressed the media giving this update about the possibilities of forward Filip Forsberg joining the team in the foreseeable future: “Filip actually landed into Nashville this morning, just before practice. He didn’t practice with us today, he will probably join us tomorrow. The plans are to see where he is. I think Filip is going to really be a top-end forward, from our standpoint. With any young player, you want to do the right thing so they continue to develop. I want to put him in a position where he’s playing in a position where he can succeed. An example of that, one of the reasons was he was hurt and we got him back to the junior level, which is his own peers, and you saw that he was a really great player and it was with his own peers. The next step is how far can we get him so that he can still produce, still get the icetime, still get the touches, still have his confidence, and keep moving forward. I don’t want to set him back anyway.” “We’re going to see where he is, where our team is in the next day or so, and we’ll go from there. Organizationally, I know we’ll make the right decision for the player. Sometimes we want players to get here quicker than they’re capable of and other times when they’re ready we just throw them in there and put them in a position to succeed. You don’t want to put them in a position to fail. It’s going to be a well-thought-out process with the organization, everyone from [Poile] to the coaching staff as well as [Forsberg] and his agent. This won’t be anything that’s done half-thought-out, it’ll be fully-thought-out.” Forsberg recently was named the Most Valuable Player of this year’s World Junior Championships in Malmo, Sweden. Scoring four goals and eight assists during the tournament, Forsberg could provide an added offense punch to a Predators team that sits 23rd overall in the NHL for total goals forced. — Photo Credit: Sarah Fuqua The post Update on Filip Forsberg: “It’s going to be a well-thought-out process” appeared first on The Predatorial.
