With points in all three matches this week, he’s now riding a 10-game point streak. Throughout the season, he’s been held off the scoresheet only 10 times out of 19 occasions.

That eight-million-dollar cap hit is looking quite nice these days.

Second star: Quinn Hughes

Quinn Hughes is the gift that keeps on giving.

He would finish Saturday night’s game against Edmonton with zero points but still managed to lead the team with five points over the week.

Those numbers put up into a select group of just 15 NHLers to eclipse the 90-point plateau this season and just the 11th defenceman all-time.

With two more games on the schedule, he needs just one more assist to join a list of seven defencemen to produce 75 (or more) assists in a single season.

Even when he’s not providing points, he’s consistently putting out plays worthy of the highlight reel.

Luckily, he is putting up points that are also very much worthy of the highlight reel.

Hughes led the way in Corsi for the second consecutive week with 66.00% CF%, a feat he has maintained for most of the season.

But is there a storyline that tops that of Conor Garland’s 2023-24 season?

From struggling to find his place in the lineup while hearing his name in daily trade conversations to becoming a key driver for any line he’s placed on, the transformation he has taken on this season has been something to embrace.

Funny enough, he’s not even tracking to hit career highs in point totals. Yet, there’s just so much more to his game that warrants praise this season.

Sure, he’s just one goal away from hitting 20 goals for just the second time in his NHL career, but what truly stands out is his relentless and never-quit attitude on the ice.

By now, it’s safe to say that he probably hasn’t heard the word “quit” in his lifetime.

This week was no different, as he notched points in all three games and led the charge with three goals.

He also collected double that of the next Canuck with 17 shots, adding to his high totals for the season. With two games to go, he sits third on the team in shots (197) and just nine behind the team leader Elias Pettersson.

Looking under the hood, he led the forward group in Corsi (64.46%) and was the only player on the team to play all three games without being on the ice for a goal against. The Canucks would outscore their opponents 7-0 with Garland on the ice.

To top it all off, he scored his 100th career goal while reaching his 400th career game milestone.
