Coming into tonight's Buffalo versus Boston game the primary focus was the potential physical play. Since the Sabres got bigger over the off season, with the additions of enforcer John Scott and agitator Steve Ott, many Sabres fans thought they would finally receive an answer for last season's Milan Lucic and Ryan Miller incident. However, Sabres sniper, Thomas Vanek grabbed the spotlight and recorded a hat-trick and two assists in the Sabres' 7-4 win over the Bruins. This was Vanek's second five-point game of the season, and he now leads the NHL with 15 points in six games played. Also Sabres captain, Jason Pominville and young star, Cody Hodgson both recorded a goal and two assists on the night. While Miller turned away 38 shots for his third win of the season.Check out Vanek's hat-trick below.

Usually the highlights that involve pretty passes are saved for football and basketball games. But Thursday night against the Bruins, Sabres winger Thomas Vanek provided one of the better passes you’ll see in this shortened NHL season. With the Sabres losing 3-2 late in the second period, Vanek found himself in front of the net with Bruin defenseman Andrew Ference on his back...
Two breakaways key scoring explosion.
Tuesday night didn’t end well. Ryan Miller allowed a pair of questionable goals and there were some struggles from various players on the roster. However, Tuesday’s overtime loss to the Leafs was followed by a 7-4 win over the Bruins.
Thomas Vanek continued his Hart-worthy play with a five-point effort that was complimented by his first hat trick since 2011. Buffalo’s defensive...
A line brawl and three fights in four seconds. That, along with two losses for his team at the time, the Dallas Stars, tell you the story of center Steve Ott's recent trips to Boston. In a word, the B's are 'aware' of Ott and what he brings to the Sabres' lineup.
"I have no problem with anything. I think thatâs their choice to build a team they want...

Thursday’s action had a lot of action on it. Thomas Vanek of the Sabres had a hat trick and two assists as Buffalo posted a 7-4 win over Boston for the Bruins’ first regulation loss (5-1-1) of the season.
Brad Marchand scored twice for Boston in the loss. The Bruins put 42 shots on Buffalo goaltender Ryan Miller but he turned aside 38 of them for an ugly win. Shockingly, the...
Grindin' Gears is a segment I started when Justin, Jon and Robb asked me to write for DOY. It was merely a weekly thing where I could rant and rave about the Bruins and whatever happened throughout those seven days. It was well received and has remained a staple throughout the three years I've been here. If you're new to the segment, it's an unedited, uncensored look...
The Buffalo Sabres got tougher this offseason, and many think that has to do with the defending Northeast Division champion Bruins, who the Sabres continue to chase.
Buffalo isn’t just chasing Boston in the standings, though. They also proved last season that they also lack the toughness that has become one of the Bruins’ best traits.
The Sabres were criticized far and wide for...
NEW YORK (Feb. 1, 2013) – Ottawa Senators goaltender Craig Anderson, San Jose Sharks left wing Patrick Marleau and Buffalo Sabres left wing Thomas Vanek have been named the NHL’s “Three Stars” for the month of January. Continue reading "Stars Of The Month"
It was supposed to be a âfight nightâ at the TD Garden.
The Buffalo Sabres, embarrassed by the Boston Bruins in front of the world last year when Milan Lucicâs trucking of Ryan Miller went unanswered, beefed up their roster with offseason acquisitions of both Steve Ott and the 6-foot-8 John Scott, and did so with the primary idea of putting an end to the Bruinsâ...
Yeah, that's a thing. They call themselves the Sabres Mafia, which apparently is a play off of the Bills Mafia. Being a Bills fan and the three or four Bills fans I follow on Twitter, the Bills Mafia is just a bunch of Bills fan who are sick of watching their team suck so they've come up with some stupid thing to feel important. They have a website too, where their...
I pretty much pride myself on not being duped too easily.
Alright, maybe I have in the past when it comes to sports. But for the most part, I don't really listen to experts or fans when it comes to telling me what is right or what is wrong with a team. Sure, you can argue with me and I'll respect your opinion, but for the most part I think you are probably full of **...
