Did Ken Holland strike gold on another relatively undiscovered European player?
Damien Brunner, a highly touted center in the Swiss League, looks to be adapting more and more to the NHL style of play since coming over from Europe this season.
After an impressive shootout game winner against Columbus Monday night, Brunner scored his first NHL goal Tuesday in a losing effort to Dallas. Last night the rookie center then scored his second goal of the season on the power play sniping out the top corner against Josh Harding en route to a 5-3 Red Wing victory.
The power play goal was impressive in itself given it was a true goal-scorers type goal, something the Wings have really been lacking since the departure of Marian Hossa a couple of years ago.
Could Brunner be that pure goal scorer Detroit has been looking for?
I guess I’m not ready to come to that conclusion just yet.
