During second period action of Wednesday night’s Canucks-Red Wings tilt, Vancouver forward Daniel Sedin pulled off a rather nifty move to dump the puck into the Detroit zone by performing the rarely seen “hockey header.”  Sedin executed the move to perfection, meaning that a) he was able to get the puck deep in the Red Wings zone, and b) he didn’t get concussed doing it. Whatever works right?  And by heading the puck into the Detroit zone, Sedin needn’t worry about getting called for a high stick or gloved pass.  Plus, you had to know that in the back of his mind Sedin knew that this play would get him plastered all over the highlight reel.  Hey, he’s just a goofy Swedish twin having a little fun out there. Video follows the jump… And you’re welcome for not going with the all-too-obvious, and all-too-awful, “head” jokes, like “Sedin really used his head on that play,” “Sedin has his head in the game,” or “that’s a heads up play by Sedin.”  Consider it an early Christmas

Craig Custance and Pierre LeBrun discuss another controversial hit, a confounding move by a certain coach and the high-flyin’ Canucks. Custance: The most intense game of the night came later between the Red Wings and Canucks, a matchup I’d love to see rekindled in the playoffs.
