St. Louis Blues forward David Backes has picked up his play for the St. Louis Blues over the past several games and has a point in each of the Blues' last three wins, which happened to all be very important victories as the season nears the home stretch with just 13 games left on the schedule.
While Backes has posted a point in each of the last three games, none of the points were as impressive as the goal he scored in Friday night's win over the Columbus Blue Jackets. Backes found the back of net for the second consecutive game but this time, scored from his backside.
Backes took a cross-ice pass from Alex Steen that was also tipped by Jaden Schwartz and shot a backhanded shot while on his back past the Columbus goalie to break a 1-1 tie.

David Backes has had a tough time lighting the lamp this season. Entering his team's game on Friday night against the Columbus Blue Jackets, Backes had just four goals in 35 games. Coming off a 24-goal 2011-12 and a 31-goal 2010-11, fans were wondering why Backes was struggling to find the back of the net.
As it turns out, maybe he just needs to shoot the puck while he&Â...
Now that David Backes has made it through the worst drought of his career, the St. Louis Blues captain has found his scoring touch again.
Backes, who went 15 games without a goal, scored for the second straight game to help the Blues beat the Columbus Blue Jackets 3-1 on Friday night.
This one didn't earn Backes any style points, as he swatted home what proved to be the winning...
Sorry for the delay in getting this up. I forgot how much fun it is to be nauseous and sick; apparently, I needed a refresher course.

The St. Louis Blues headed to Detroit on Sunday afternoon with a three-game winning streak as they make a push towards a second consecutive playoff berth. The St. Louis Blues headed to Nashville to play the Predators after defeating the Red Wings 1-0 on Sunday, and by the time the Wings resume playing on Thursday (against the Sharks), there is no doubt whatsoever that the Wings will be on the outside of the Western Conference playoff picture looking in as three full days off "burn" Detroit's 2 games in hand on most teams...
