The Canucks and Blackhawks have turned into one of the most fierce rivalries in the NHL over the past number of seasons as they have met in the playoffs three consecutive years. Tonight was the ...

  • I'd give him 5 games. The elbow was a total cheap shot, completely intentional, and Sedin got hurt on the play. If Doan got three games for his elbow, Keith deserves 5 games. Unbelievable stupid play .... at the stretch run, Keith pulls a bonehead play that will cost him and his team. Moron.

The NHL wants an in-person meeting with Duncan Keith

Earlier today it was reported by all the usual in the know people that the NHL informed Chicago and Duncan Keith that he would have a phone-hearing with Brendan Shanahan tomorrow at 2pm ET. A phone hearing incates that the suspension would be 5 or less games. But late breaking news tonight by Bob McKenzie it seems that things have changed. Here's what we learned:Rather strange...

Blackhawks defenseman Keith suspended 5 games

Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Duncan Keith was suspended for five games without pay by the NHL on Friday for elbowing Vancouver star Daniel Sedin in the head. Keith lunged at Sedin in the neutral zone in the first period of Chicago's 2-1 overtime victory Wednesday night, hitting Sedin in the head. Sedin didn't have the puck at the time. Keith was given a minor penalty for...

NHL and Sedin to Blame for Keith’s Actions

It’s only a day after Duncan Keith delivered a flying elbow to the head of Daniel Sedin as retaliation for a previous hit that Sedin had laid on Keith. Keith’s hit was illegal and he will absolutely be suspended for it; however this is one of those cases where I believe that an illegal action was also a necessary action. Necessary because proper justice was not going to be served...

My immediate thought upon seeing Duncan Keith

This is a conversation that needs to happen. That is all.(I suspect they would talk about hoses, little people and Chris Chelios)

No Limit to Keith Suspension

According to TSN's Bob McKenzie the NHL has changed its mind and requested an in-person hearing with Duncan Keith which the defenceman waived, meaning the suspension is no longer limited to less than five games. More to come as news of the length of the suspension breaks this afternoon.

Daniel Sedin hits Ducan Keith in head

Last night there was a lot of outrage about Blackhawks defensemen Duncan Keith's hit on Canucks forward Daniel Sedin. What I didn't see was a lot of outrage about Daniel Sedins hit on Duncan Keith, and both hits are bad. Being consistent, I think you can see that both players "could be" required to sit a game or two, both hits are bad and unnecessary. I also...

Duncan Keith suspended 5 games for elbow on Daniel Sedin

Duncan Keith has been suspended five games for his elbow on Daniel Sedin during the first period of Wednesday's game between the Canucks and Blackhawks. The hit occurred 13:36 into the game and Keith was given a minor penalty for for elbowing. Daniel Sedin is now out indefinitely with a head injury. The injury could not come at a worse time for the Canucks as the playoffs are...

Link City: Keith in trouble

Blackhawks defenseman Duncan Keith is in trouble after elbowing Canucks forward Daniel Sedin in the head.  Sedin is out indefinitely. [CBC] Video of the hit after the jump. Shane Doan was given a 3 game suspension yesterday for elbowing Jamie Benn in the head, expect Keith to get the same. The Phoenix Coyotes are running out of time.  [PHT] Senators...

Duncan Keith Suspended Five Games For Hit On Sedin

<a href="http://www.mogreet.com/moshare/it/" class="moshare-button-21" data-message="The NHL Department of Player Safety suspended Blackhawks defenseman, Duncan Keith, for five games following a nasty elbow to the head of Canucks forward Daniel Sedin. While Keith is a key player in the Blackhawks lineup, Daniel Sedin (out indefinitely) leads the Canucks...

Duncan Keith's hit on Daniel Sedin

With Shane Doan getting suspended for three games for elbowing Jamie Benn in the face, you've got to think that the Blackhawks defenseman Duncan Keith is going to get a game or two suspension for taking out the Canucks star forward Daniel Sedin with this high elbow to the head. These types of dirty hits are not acceptable and the NHL needs to be more proactive in removing...

John Jaeckel: "Reckless And Dangerous"

Follow me @jaeckel Defying the predictions of all but the most partisan observers, NHL Discipline has handed down a five-game suspension for Duncan Keith. Head of Discipline Brendan Shanahan termed Keith's hit to Daniel Sedin's head "reckless and dangerous." I buy levying a suspension for what was clearly a retaliatory and dangerous hit. I can even see...

Keith received two for elbowing.

Game 73: Blackhawks Game Thoughts

After missing most of the 1st period rushing home from work, about five minutes into the 2nd period I came to the conclusion that I was ok with a loss tonight. Amid all the fracas in between whistles I was ok with all the penalties takes in the 2nd period, well except for that Henrik hooking one in the neutral zone, because sometimes during the season you just need a night like this...

Can't Handle The Heat: CHI 2, VAN 1 (OT)

A classic Blackhawks/Canucks brawl ensued, but a hockey game broke out in the 3rd period where Chicago prevailed in a 2-1 OT victory on Wednesday night. Johnny Oduya ripped a shot mid-way through overtime that deflected off Andrew Shaw to seal the game-winning goal. It all started with Janik Hansen using Johnny Oduya as a turnstyle and popping the first goal of the game on the...
