from Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Blues left winger Andy McDonald suffered a right shoulder injury in the second period of Thursday’s 2-0 loss in Carolina and did not return. “He has a shoulder injury ... we’ll evaluate him tomorrow,” Blues coach Ken Hitchcock said. McDonald was hit by Carolina’s Tuomu Ruutu and crashed awkwardly into boards with about 6 minutes, 15 seconds remaining in the period. He lay on the ice briefly before rising to his feet and heading to the locker room. Blues captain David Backes gave Ruutu a push after the play. There was no penalty called, much to Hithcock’s unsatisfaction. “I didn’t like the hit,” Hitchcock “I thought the hit was certainly a penalty, whether it’s a suspension or not, who knows? But that’s what’s wrong with our game. The player was in a vulnerable position. He knocked his stick to knock him off balance and then pushed him hard into the boards. It’s a real tough play in hockey.” continued and watch the hit b
