Found April 14, 2012 on Red Light District Hockey:
Just moments into tonight's game at Madison Square Garden, Senators defenseman Matt Carkner started a melee with Rangers forward Brian Boyle. The Senators put Carkner (best known for his fighting) into the starting lineup, signalling something was up.

Carkner, who didn't play in Game 1, sucker-punched Boyle to set off the fireworks at the 2:15 mark of the first period. Carkner and Rangers forward Brandon Dubinsky both received game misconducts on the play. As you will see, Dubinsky was unhappy with the result and let the Gatorade cooler know it.

Here is the incident...

This melee stemmed from Boyle's excessive punching to Erik Karlsson in Game 1. Expect Carkner to receive a suspension for his actions.

Losing It with Matt Carkner

So Carkner wasted no time exacting his pound of flesh Saturday night, roughing up Boyle for a second before coldcocking him twice followed by a series of gratuitous body shots at ice level. Boyle's man-handling of Karlsson in the series opener set the stage for this incident, which many have argued was a deserved response. Maybe so, Carkner was just doing his job right...

Rangers and Senators will keep Shanny Busy...

Here are a couple of incidents from the Ottawa Senators and the New York Rangers game that is going to get a look at by the department of players safety. Video: Henrik Lundqvist & Brian Boyle Talk About Game Two Loss To Ottawa

… Henrik looks so disappointed, rightfully so. He was very solid but unfortunately the tying goal that went through was out of his hands. Poor defense on that sequence in my book.  The momentum easily shifted towards Ottawa on that tying goal and the Rangers didn’t look right since that point.  Brian Boyle has been [...]

Sens get physical, get even with Rangers

If the top-seeded New York Rangers learned one thing about Ottawa Saturday night, it's that if the eighth-ranked Senators go down in this Eastern Conference quarterfinal, they're going to do so swinging, and swinging, and swinging some more. Ottawa set a violent tone early in Game 2 during a nasty fight just 2:15 into the game -- one that led to the ejection of two players...

If the NHL is unhappy with the fighting in the playoffs, they only have themselves to blame

There is a lame sports joke hockey fans will be very familliar with that non-hockey people love to toss out whenever anyone tries to talk about the game.  "I went to a fight and a hockey game broke out" and after a few stupid chuckles, hockey fans roll their eyes at the ignorant fools.  This year's playoffs thus far has provided those same ignorant fools with an example...
