For the 190th time in NHL history, the 50-goal mark was reached. And it happened Tuesday night in the Tampa Bay Lightning vs. Boston Bruins game.
Steven Stamkos did it in the third period with just over eight minutes to go.
The Lightning lit up the Bruins in the 6-1 win as Stamkos also got his 49th goal earlier in the game.
But as Stamkos led the Lightning past a powerhouse such as the Bruins, is he the new face of the NHL?

Tampa Bay now sits seven points behind the 8th seed Washington Capitals. If Stamkos and the Bolts can bump off Alexander Ovechkin and the Caps (with one game remaining on April 2) perhaps these 50 goals, and the rest on the season will be just more significant.
