Teemu Pulkkinen’s 2013 preseason debut for the Detroit Red Wings lasted all of 2:16. He was then slapped with a five-minute major and a game misconduct for boarding Chicago’s Michael Kostka behind the net.
Pulkkinen now faces an in-person disciplinary hearing at the NHL’s New York office, the Red Wings’ website reported — players who could be suspended for five games or longer are allowed to request an in-person hearing.
Kostka did not return to the ice after Pulkkinen’s hit, which touched off a brief scrum. Another young Wing, forward Mitchell Callahan, also earned a boarding game misconduct later in the Blackhawks’ 2-0 victory.
