Last spring, forward Joel Ward was a big playoff contributor for the Nashville Predators with 13 points in 12 games. Ward signed a four-year, $12 million contract with Washington in the off-season, but struggled to live up to expectations in the regular season. He redeemed himself tonight with an overtime goal in Game 7 against the defending-champion Boston Bruins, as the Capitals have moved on to the second round with a 2-1 victory. The rest of the Eastern Conference will be sorted out tomorrow night in a pair of Game 7's. Philadelphia and Washington have advanced.
