from Chuck Gormley of CSNWashington, It is entirely possible veteran goaltender Tomas Vokoun has played his last game for the Capitals. The groin injury suffered by Vokoun in Thursday night’s 3-2 shootout win over the Boston Bruins is worse than the one that sidelined him six straight games and likely will keep him out of the lineup for the remainder of the regular season and playoffs, CSNwashington.com has learned. Vokoun, 35, is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1 after signing a one-year, $1.5 million contract with the Capitals last summer. In 48 games with the Capitals Vokoun went 25-17-2 with a 2.51 goals-against average and a .917 save percentage. continued

Rapid Rewind: Stammer Time

For the Washington Capitals, Monday’s game was a microcosm of their season under Dale Hunter. The Capitals played the first half of the game conservatively and sloppily, failing to get any sort of sustained offensive momentum and allowing the speedy and skilled Tampa forwards to impose their will.  It wasn’t a case of waiting back, it was a case of being controlled by a better...

Capitals Slip, Give Sabres Life

The Washington Capitals entered their game against the Tampa Bay Lightning in the best possible scenario. The Caps found themselves in the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, and just three points behind the Southeast Division leading Florida Panthers.A win would have put the Capitals virtually out of reach of the Sabres, who are the only team that could...

Strictly Hockey For Backstrom

from Chuck Gormley of CSNWashington, It is a subplot the Capitals would rather not explore. Canadiens forward Rene Bourque was suspended three games for the Jan. 3 hit that left Backstrom...

Bruins potential playoff opponent – Ottawa Senators
