Warm weather in Philadelphia has forced the NHL to postpone the start of the Alumni Classic Saturday. The outdoor game, which features former players from the New York Rangers and Philadelphia Flyers, is the first event of the Winter Classic Weekend at Citizens Bank Park. The start time was bumped from 1 p.m. ET to 3 p.m., hoping the later start time will allow temperatures to drop. The warm weather has made for very soft ice in the outdoor rink constructed for the NHL’s annual New Year’s Day game. The Alumni Classic features players like Eric Lindros and Mark Messier. The weekend forecast is calling for temperatures in the low 50s and sunny skies. The NHL is using Saturday’s game as a test run for Monday’s Winter Classic contest.
