The Washington Capitals beat the Columbus Blue Jackets 4-3 in overtime after tying the game with less than two minutes remaining and winning it on an Alex Ovechkin goal. Mikhail Grabovski tied the game with 1:45 left on his sixth goal of the season, and Ovechkin tied Alexander Steen of the St. Louis Blues and injured Tampa Bay Lightning forward Steven Stamkos for the League goal-scoring lead with his 14th. “[Johansson] did a great job,” Ovechkin said. “And after that I have to go to the net and find a rebound. I get a lucky puck, bounce right to my stick, and we go. It’s always nice to score, and [with an] overtime goal you can feel your best.” Washington snapped a two-game losing streak and moved within one point of the Pittsburgh Penguins for first place in the Metropolitan Division. Columbus is now in last place after losing six of seven. The post Watch: Alex Ovechkin scores game winner in OT appeared first on Sports Glory.

This particular Caps supporter also boasted a tremendous red and...

Alex Ovechkin scores in overtime for Caps 4-3 victory over CBJ

Coming off two tough losses on the road, games in which they let opportunities to gain control of a contest or assert themselves slip away, the Washington Capitals were determined not to experience a similar fate Tuesday night at Verizon Center. So when, in the span of 5 minutes 23 seconds, they coughed up a one-goal lead in the third period and then the Columbus Blue Jackets pulled...

Ovechkin’s New Haircut

“Sochi… Stanley… Sochi… Stanley… Maria… Stanley…” (Photos by Caps Outsider) Alex Ovechkin entered warm-ups on Tuesday against the Blue Jackets sporting a new haircut that certainly didn’t make much of a dent in his 13-year, $124 million salary. No word on whether he did it himself, though. Don’t worry – he left the Movember ‘stache. By […]

Ovechkin OT goal gives Caps win

First game back from a long road trip. Early season, midweek matchup against an opponent that doesn't exactly fire up the masses. The conditions combined to create a low-energy performance from the Washington Capitals, and that's exactly what it was at times Tuesday night. Nevertheless, they rallied when it mattered. Mikhail Grabovski's 100th NHL goal tied the game...

Links of the Day 11/14/13

Good morning! The saddest part of this isn’t the 50 year old man playing beer pong, it’s the fact that he is wearing a shirt with his own name and visage on it. I mean, I do love Sonic Too bad he was driving drunk when looking for it. Nazem Kadri bowled over Nicklas Backstrom last night, leaving Backstrom injured. how do you get the stains out?

The Flyers are 3-1 since Ray Emery assaulted Braden Holtby in such a way that, in the civilized world, would have gotten him arrested.  So apparently that was a great moment for the Flyers organization. So this is pretty amazing.  50% of PH Staff and Our Friend Laynie are actually in the stands for this ****.  But the rest of us have NBC.  And this is one of those games that...

Is the Ray Emery Rule Coming?

Ray Emery's attack on Braden Holtby in Philadelphia leads to NHL discussion about possibly implementing a rule against it.

The NHL missed the mark on goalie fighting Unless you’ve been living under the proverbial hockey rock, then you at least heard something about the Ray Emery/Braden Holtby incident from a few weeks back.  For those of you who didn’t, here’s the short version: during a 7-0 drubbing of the Flyers at the hands of Washington, a scrum ensued down in the Caps’ end.  Clearly frustrated, Ray Emery decided to...
