Around The Rink:
Jose Theodore, currently an unrestricted free agent goalie, has quite a bit of NHL experience. Since the start of the 1995-96 season, Theodore has played 648 games, earning 286 wins with a career 2.68 goals against average and .909 save percentage. Now, he’s added another impressive feat to his career resume: catching a stray tennis ball, and doing so with style.
Theodore, a Quebec native, was in attendance at the final match of the ATP Rogers Cup between Rafael Nadal and Milos Raonic. With Raonic serving to bring the first set back to 5-2, Nadal hit Raonic’s serve into the crowd, and right over to Theodore, who made a phenomenal standing save in the crowd while saving his phone and beer. Fast forward this video to the 33:00 mark to see this save.
Theodore is a right-handed goalie, so as you can see above his glove hand is still capable of making a show-stopping save every now and then. Perhaps this will spark some interest among teams looking for a backup goalie.

from Harvey Fialkov of the Sun Sentinel,
Theodore admitted his agent has not heard from the Panthers, who seem content to go with 23-year-old Jacob Markstrom as their starter and veteran Scott Clemmensen as his backup. But Theodore said he has received interest from two other unnamed teams.
"The Panthers are still my No. 1 choice. I don't know if the door is...
Skip to the 33:00 mark to see Jose, unless you want to watch 30-plus minutes of Nadal whooping ass.

Just a quick hit here in the dog days of summer before NHL camps ramp up next month.
I am working on another article for next week, but I must say I was surprised by the reaction to my last blog entitled: Does Scott Gomez Make The Panthers Better? (ripple effect). This is the link--http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog.php?blogger_id=93#.Ug0UKby9z0g.

Jose Theodore currently is without an NHL job, but the unemployed goaltender — who played in only 15 games as a Florida Panthers backup last season — demonstrated he still has catlike reflexes while taking in Sunday’s Rogers Cup final between Rafael Nadal and Milos Raonic in Montreal. Overview: Aleksander “Sasha” Barkov is a 6’2 205lb centre from Tampere, Finland in the Florida Panthers organization. Barkov was drafted 2nd overall by the Florida Panthers in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, to some surprise. Many thought that after Nathan MacKinnon, either defenseman Seth Jones or winger Jonathan Drouin were the obvious choices to go #2. The Florida Panthers don’t [...]

Rafael Nadal sets up quarterfinal meeting with Roger Federer.
MASON, Ohio — Rafael Nadal and Grigor Dimitrov had only met twice before Thursday evening’s three set showdown. In their first meeting, Dimitrov was a newcomer on tour, just 18 years of age.
