Rangers-coach-tortorella
from Larry Brooks of the New York Post, There is not even an ounce of pleasure, gratification or satisfaction derived in this space from chronicling Tortorella’s professional demise. Our very public confrontations were the tip of an iceberg. So much more was unseen. I will share this: At the start of the 2012-13 season when I had a medical issue, Tortorella was kind, caring and compassionate. That holds more meaning than being professionally disrespected. Something has gone terribly wrong with Tortorella as an NHL head coach. Being fired twice within 11 months should disabuse him of the notion that someone else was to blame. This is a man now clearly at a crossroads who requires time and counsel to get back on track as well as get back to the league. I believe there is a place for him following a sabbatical, and I believe there will be an owner who reaches out to him, and I don’t think it would be out of the question for the as-yet-unknown Brooklyn owner to be that pers...

New York Rangers Score Twice In Overtime, Defeat Penguins Game 1

The New York Rangers jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in Game 1, only to see it slip away. In overtime, the Rangers controlled the play and Derick Brassard took a shot that went in the net and celebrated, though the ref called no goal and the play went on. Evgeni Malkin And Brian Boyle Get Into It After Rangers-Penguins Game

At the end fo the New York Rangers-Pittsburgh Penguins game, Evgeni Malkin had some choice words for Brian Boyle. He reached out his stick and almost hit him, and followed it up by challenging him to a fight. Not the best idea on Malkin’s part, but he’s always been a bit of a hot head. Even Strength Play Saving Rangers In Postseason

To say the Rangers power play is struggling might literally be the biggest understatement of the century. They’re just 3-for-33 in the playoffs and are currently in an 0-for-25 funk dating back to Game 2 of their first round series against the Flyers. Meanwhile, their penalty kill hasn’t exactly lit the word on fire either as they have the fourth worst success rate in the postseason...

New York’s third line ‘chemistry’ making a difference

Many teams don’t expect a lot of offense out of their third line, but the New York Rangers are happy to buck the trend. The Rangers line centered by Derick Brassard with Benoit Pouliot and Mats Zuccarello on the wings provided two goals, including the game-winner, in New York’s 3-2 overtime win in Game 1 against the Pittsburgh Penguins. “Since Christmas they’ve probably...

Penguins Fall to Rangers 3-2 in OT

Following their Game 7 victory over Philadelphia on Wednesday night, the New York Rangers had less than 48 hours to prepare for their series opener with the Penguins. By contrast, the black and gold were rested and relaxed following three days off. Perhaps a little too relaxed. While the Rangers showed surprising hop to open Game 1, the Pens struggled to find the on-switch. Indeed...

Marc Andre-Fleury has been criticized in the past few season for some bad playoffs, but tonight he played one of his better game in a long time.  The 1st period was scoreless and both teams have their chances.   The Rangers had 3 early power-play chances, but the Penguins killed off all of them.
