It took just 67 hours for Bruce Boudreau to find another coaching gig. Sure, it may be 2,600 miles out west, which may be the best change of scenery for the veteran bench boss. Bruce Boudreau, shown in this file photo, was named the new bench boss of the Anaheim Ducks this morning. There’s no excuses, no distractions, and no scapegoats. Who does Boudreau have to utilize on his new team? Well, there’s Bobby Ryan and Corey Perry, and the captain Ryan Getzlaf. Of those main three who are the “core” of the team’s future, Ryan is the only one under-performing at the moment. But, the Ducks are known for bouncing back. They just ended a seven-game skid within a very ugly loss 6-5 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks, but are in a conference (and division) this year where anything can happen. With talent, they can prevail. Alexander Ovechkin’s slump proved to be too much of a hurdle for Capitals’ GM George McPhee. In Anaheim, there’s nobody who puts his face out there more than anyone through endorsements and off-season promises of a comeback year. There’s no sharp thorns (maybe except for Dan Ellis’ attitude in the past) between the coaches and players in Anaheim. The other question which looms is if Boudreau will take his hard-nosed style of coaching with him, and if he’ll use some of his philosophies in Anaheim, which he tried in Washington? Or, will this cast of players call for something else in the books? The Ducks will look to turn the page from a dismal November with that 2-8-3 record, and do it against the Philadelphia Flyers in Anaheim tomorrow.
