Got this email last night from Kyle in Scottsdale: “Who in the hell is the redhead behind the coyotes bench? Figured you guys wouldve already invaded her Facebook account.” Of course Kyle is talking about the Double Ds giving the Phoenix Coyotes coaching staff black eyes during the playoffs. Our investigators have yet to hone in on Kyle’s chick so this is where you guys start helping the cause.

L.A., the #8 seed, once again is off to a hot start in a series. The Kings got a 4-2 win on the road and a 1-0 series lead. Game 2 is Tuesday at 9 EST.

Name that Coyotes rack!

Phoenix Coyotes score on slapshot from center ice

If only every center ice slapshot produced results like this! During the NHL playoffs, you don’t expect ridiculous shots from halfway down the ice to find the back of the net. Watch as Phoenix Coyotes defenseman Derek Morris nails this crazy knucklepuck from center ice on the usually reliable Jonathan Quick. Maybe the Coyotes should have attempted more long-range shots seeing...

Match-Ups May Be Difficult For Phoenix

from Pierre LeBrun of ESPN, The Kopitar unit with Brown and Justin Williams murdered the Coyotes all night long with stretches in the Phoenix defensive zone and created numerous scoring chances aside from the two goals the line produced. The line combined for 15 shots, Brown leading the team with seven and Kopitar had six. Know this: It’s going to be a short series unless the...

Derek Morris scores goal from center ice (Video)

Phoenix Coyotes defenseman Derek Morris scored a goal from center ice in the first period of Sunday night's NHL Western Conference final playoff game against the Los Angeles Kings. Morris took a slapshot from center ice towards the Kings net and caught goalie Jonathan Quick napping. However, the Kings were able to overcome Quick's mistake and defeated the Coyotes...

Coyotes player scores from center ice

Unless you’re one of the 13 people that watched Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals between the Phoenix Coyotes and the Los Angeles Kings, you missed this little diddy. Instead of dumping the puck into the Kings’ zone, Coyotes defenseman Derek Morris decided to let one rip at the net. Kings goalie Jonathan Quick wasn’t (say it with me) quick enough. You can’t really...

Coyotes Plan To Win The Battles Tonight

from Jerry Brown at NHL.com, “Everybody’s going to work hard. It’s what you do after you get there that matters,” Tippett said. “We were around some battles. But once you get yourself into the battle, it’s the next step: How are you going to win that battle? (Boedker’s goal was) one of the few times we got in, separated somebody from the puck, had another guy there...

For starters, Coyotes sputter again in Game 1

LOS ANGELES -- The Coyotes have been living on the edge all during this postseason while managing to emerge unscathed. But in Game 1 of the Western Conference finals, they left Jobing.com Arena trailing in a series for the first time and sporting a fat lip after being hit in the mouth by the big, bad and rolling Los Angeles Kings. The Coyotes didn't play well against Chicago...

Derek Morris goal from center ice

In tonight's Western Conference Final game between the Phoenix Coyotes and  Los Angeles Kings game, Coyotes defenseman Derek Morris scored an improvable goal on Los Angeles Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick from center ice. Quick has been almost unbeatable through two rounds in the playoffs. This just proves that there is nothing bad about a shot on goal. Related...

The Understudy knows all the parts: Jason LaBarbera

I wonder if Jason LaBarbera wakes up at 3AM and wonders about how he arrived where he is right now. He’s Mike Smith’s backup, and a goalie who’s been on both teams in the Western Conference finals. (For the bar bet of the week, he’s also tended goal for the Vancouver Canucks and the New York Rangers.) He’s been the #1 goalie in the minors, but other than one season with...

A Cheering Guide for the Apathetic fan

If you’re reading this, your team has probably been eliminated from the playoffs. As a service to our readers, here is your guide to cheering for the remaining teams. Phoenix Coyotes Pros: This is probably the most trollish result. The Coyotes winning the Stanley Cup would piss off anyone who still insists that hockey in the Sunbelt is a bad idea. It would force those who make...

Open Post, Game 1 Western Conference Finals

The Phoenix Coyotes will be hosting the Los Angeles Kings tonight in the first game of the Western Conference Finals. The puck will drop shortly after 8:00pm ET and can be watched on NBCSN, TSN and RDS. Most of expect a close, low-scoring game tonight plus the ice conditions may be a factor.  Reports are the temperature nearing 105 degrees, but of course it is a dry heat. Let’s...

Coyotes Defenseman Scores on Jonathan Quick From Center Ice

During Game 1 of the Los Angeles Kings and Phoenix Coyotes Western conference finals playoff match-up, Jonathan Quick finally looked human. Coyotes defenseman Derek Morris got a lucky bounce and was able to put the puck past Quick from center ice. I’m sure Quick wasn;t given too much flack following the game as the Kings went on to win 4-2. via NHL Article found on: Cosby Sweaters

Predators-Coyotes Series Scoring Chances

This series has been in the books for almost a week and there has been plenty of time for the pundits and bloggers to create their narratives about the Coyotes sending the Preds home in only five games. Last time I checked, the ongoing story is that that the Preds ran into the "hungrier team" and had their chemistry ruined by two lazy, misbehaving players. Some other explanations...
