Dennis Bernstein at the Fourth Period reports that the Rangers have been sending two scouts to every Los Angeles Kings game lately. ...i know we touched on this the other day, but after looking at the Kings roster again, I think the guy the Rangers could be keying on is Rob Scuderi. The Rangers have been rumored to be looking for a defenseman and Scuderi has Stanley Cup pedigree. The 34-year old is also in the final year of his contract that pays him $3.4 million this season, so they Rangers wouldn't be saddled with his contract for the next couple of years. Although if the Kings think they're a Cup contender, I'm not sure why they'd want to move the Syosset, New York native. ...the one guy I'd love for Sather to go after by possibly taking advantage of the Kings being aggressive at the trade deadline to defend the Cup is 23-year old defenseman Slava Voynov. Kid can put up points from the blueline which is something the Rangers are sorely lacking. Now he wouldn't come cheap but maybe Sather can get Dean Lombardi to bite on Gaborik. Especially now that the Kings have been shutout the last two games. Speaking of recycled trade rumors, Bruce Garrioch at the Ottawa Sun says Glen Sather has been itching to make a move to bring in an impact player and Sharks defenseman Dan Boyle could be that guy. ...i thought Rick Nash was supposed to be the impact player who got the Rangers to the promiseland? ...seriously though, which GM isn't looking to bring in an impact player at the deadline? And finally, Larry Brooks at the New York Post says the Rangers are preparing to make an offer to restricted free agent winger Mats Zuccarello. Zuccarello is said to be looking for a two-year, one-way contract. ...i seriously doubt the Rangers are going to meet his demands. He is still too much of an unknown commodity to offer that kind of commitment. ...although, if Jesper Fast has issues getting to North America as Adam reported last night, the Rangers might have no choice but to cave into Zuccarello's demands. Brooks also wonders if the Dallas Stars begin a meaningful overhaul would they dangle Loui Eriksson at the deadline, because if they do, the Rangers would be mighty interested. ...we all know the chemistry Richards and Eriksson had in Dallas, so it wouldn't surprise me if the Rangers had interest, but he has three years left on his contract at $4.25 million per year making it unlikely the Rangers could afford him Remember to follow me on Twitter & Facebook or e-mail me at nyrfan94@yahoo.com.
