Found January 30, 2013 on PenguinPoop:
The Penguins have new lineups for their first and second power plays. The first power play has the same players on it with one small twist. Evgeni Malkin will be on the point and James Neal will be moving up. The interesting thing is the Penguins second powerplay which practiced with Dustin Jeffrey and Paul Martin at point. The Penguins have had 8 defensemen on the roster all season.  Do the Penguins seriously not have two defensemen good enough to man the second powerplay let alone the first? The horrible truth that no one wants to hear is that the Penguins do not have a defenseman that can shoot. Kris Letang who is widely considered the Penguins most offensive defenseman hasn’t taken a full slapshot yet this season. Three maybe four half slap shots and the rest of the time he wrists the puck on net. Most troubling is that even though he hasn’t taken a full slap shot, he leads the team missing the net on shots. The Penguins power play is much easier to defend when the defense can’t...

John Toperzer: Poll: What's wrong with the Pittsburgh Penguins?

poll by twiigs.com I'm off to a funeral today and taking my aunt shopping in Bellevue today, but I figure the poll should be enough to keep everyone busy around here. Three shots in nine minutes of power-play time. Really? ***** Treasure Life! JT...

Sidney Crosby is a Whiny ***** Who Gets Away With Murder

Sadly, one of the league's best players, Sidney Crosby, has earned the unfortunate reputation of being the league's biggest baby and it was on full display last night... And don't get me started on the tantrum he threw after Dan Girardi bumped him after the whistle in the second period. Although I did love watching him get so worked up he actually lost his edge...

Secret for the power play: It's the plan not the personnel

After scoring just one goal in their last fourteen power play opportunities, the Penguins decided to change things up yet again.  Evgeni Malkin will now play the point while James Neal will command the half-boards.  Anyone whose watched more than five games with Malkin on the point knows he's not comfortable in that position.  When you consider how pass-happy both he and Kris...

Penguins Claim 2008 1st Round Pick Zack Boychuk from Carolina

The Penguins picked 23 year old Carolina Hurricanes Left Winger Zack Boychuk off of waivers today.  Boychuk was a first round 14th overall pick in the 2008 entry draft. Boychuk saw on average 9 minutes playing time in the 16 games he played for Carolina last year and got to play all of 1 game with them this year.  My guess is that Dustin Jeffrey who was about to see time on Malkin’s...

Vokoun, Penguins shut out Rangers

Tomas Vokoun stopped 28 shots for his 49th NHL shutout, and the Pittsburgh Penguins scored on the first shot of the first and third periods in a 3-0 victory over the New York Rangers on Thursday night. Evgeni Malkin gave the Penguins the lead just 1:24 in, James Neal added a power-play goal 28 seconds into the third - after another costly too many men on the ice penalty for the...

You Can Make Matt Cooke Or James Neal Have A Light Switch Penis

If you're gonna run a light switch cover business, you gotta make sure the phallic switch is in no crotch-al areas of the background picture. LIGHTS ON JAMES NEAL TOTALLY SCORED LIGHTS OUT AND THE GOALIE ROBBED HIM. I mean get real. Go Pens.

Pens embarrassed at home to Isles; lose 4-1

For the second straight home game, the Penguins had a record crowd on hand and for the second straight game, they sent them home disappointed. The Penguins were blown out by the Islanders in front of a record 18,634 fans. Their power play continued to struggle, going 0-3 with only three total shots, while the Islanders cashed in on both power play chances to put the game out of...

Vokoun shuts the door; shuts out Rangers 3-0

The Pittsburgh Penguins may want to play all over their games on the road for the rest of the season. Coming off a brutal 4-1 loss to the New York Islanders at home, their second home loss in as many games, the Penguins stormed back against the New York Rangers to stir up some boos at MSG. Evgeni Malkin scored his second goal of the season, Simon Despres scored the second goal...

RECAP: Bad Moon Rising. PENS LOSE.

The usual mantra about not getting too low or too high still rings true. That doesn't make what happened last night any easier.  It was embarrassing, and it has nothing to do with how people want to perceive the opponent's skill level. There was booing.  There were obscenities.  Here is what we know: there is something off about the Pens. Offensively, they look lost...
