THURSDAY'S STORY LINE: On Aug. 25, 1982, Oilers defenseman Nick Schultz was born in Strasbourg, Saskatchewan. Four and a half months later, on January 10, 1983, Wild defenseman Tom Gilbert was born in Bloomington, Minn.
Like many young boys growing up and Canada and Minnesota, the two dreamed of playing in the NHL.In 2000, Schultz's NHL dream was close to becoming a reality when he was drafted by the Minnesota Wild.
On Oct. 14, 2001, Schultz played his first NHL game for the Wild. It was against the Edmonton Oilers and it was the first of 743 games he would eventually go on to play for Minnesota. The 30-year old still holds the franchise record for most games played.
As Schultz was finishing his first season with the Wild in 2001-02, Gilbert's NHL dream was closer to becoming a reality. Gilbert was selected in the 2002 NHL entry draft by the Colorado Avalanche.
Gilbert never played a game for Colorado because he was traded to the Edmonton Oilers during the 2003-04 se...

First, take a look at the video put together by SBNation of the hit Taylor Hall had on Cal Clutterbuck last night.
I’m not a scholar of the NHL, despite my other gig at Barry Melrose Rocks, so you are all entitled to your own opinions, but to me, it looked like Taylor Hall had intent to hit Cal Clutterbuck. That’s the problem with the hit, in my mind. What I don’t believe...

It appears Koivu will play Thursday against...

The head equipment manager of the Minnesota Wild isn't a fan of the Edmonton Oilers. In fact, he's not a fan of the city of Edmonton in general. How do we know this? Well, Styleswild on Twitter or Tony Dacosta based on the matching photo from the Wild's site, chose to bash the city and the team through a series of Tweets.
After time passed, Dacosta decided to remove...
Minnesota Wild forward Cal Clutterbuck has seemingly avoided a major injury after taking a lethal knee-on-knee hit from Edmonton Oilers forward Taylor Hall Thursday night, but Hall won't be avoiding suspension.
The NHL announced a two-game ban for Hall, the first of his young career, after a vicious hit on Clutterbuck in Thursday's 3-1 Minnesota win in Edmonton. Hall, who...
You're probably familiar with the old Master Card commercials. Where the commercial lists various items along with their prices and then at the end it will list something simple and likely non-material and it will simply say "Priceless." The commercial resonated with people for making that connection between the things people buy and what really cannot be bought...
