Wilson a healthy scratch tonight

Looks like Ryan Wilson is the odd man out among the defense, to make room for Tyson Barrie’s NHL debut. He’ll be a healthy scratch for tonight’s game with Chicago, along with Matt Hunwick and Kevin Porter. Coach Joe Sacco said he’s just looking for a “spark” from Barrie, presumably with the offensive part of the game and/or on the power play. Barrie didn’t seem too nervous this morning when talking to pesky reporters. Not much other news to report. Both teams have lost five in a row coming in to this one. Somebody’s gotta win.

The NHL has fined Colorado Avalanche forward Chuck Kobasew for tripping Vancouver Canucks defenseman Dan Hamhuis. The league announced the $2,500 penalty on Monday. Kobasew received a minor penalty for tripping Hamhuis at 13:20 of the second period Saturday. The Canucks went on to beat the Avalanche 3-2 in a shootout.

The rookie forward broke a tie 38 seconds into the third period and David Jones added two goals, lifting the Avalanche to a 5-2 win over the struggling Blackhawks on Tuesday night.
