from Gregg Krupa of the Detroit News,
Amid a few months of fairly intense, self-directed workouts at local rinks, several of the Red Wings leave Sunday for Arizona, where they will work out with some of the Phoenix Coyotes and other players from around the NHL.
As they hope for an end to the owners' lockout and a settlement on a collective bargaining agreement, the Red Wings are eying the calendar, realizing there is a lot of time to be made up.
They want to be in the best condition and as well-practiced as possible before the prospective start of an abbreviated training camp leading directly into a likely 48-game schedule, that will put great demands on them.
"Me, Horc, Howie, Kroner and maybe Ericsson and Monster are going," Danny Cleary said.
Translated from players' speak, that is Cleary; Shawn Horcoff, the former Spartan and current captain of the Oilers, who works out with the Red Wings in the offseason; Jimmy Howard, Jonathan Ericsson an...

When Red Wings sniper Pavel Datsyuk returns to Detroit, he’ll be in midseason form after tearing up the Kontinental Hockey League in Russia the past few months. As a parting gift, he left Russia with some sick dangles on a shootout goal from Saturday. Whether you’re on the “Boycott the NHL” bandwagon or not, it’ll be nice to have Pavel’s handywork back in the States...
Detroit Red Wings superstar Henrik Zetterberg has made this shootout move one of his standards, and pulled it off successfully again here. Zetterberg has been on an absolute tear while playing for EV Zug of the Swiss National League, and currently has 32 points in 23 games. The best part of this video is that after Zetterberg scores on the one-handed move, Thomas Nussli, on the...
Pavel Datsyuk is leaving his KHL stint, as Puck Daddy puts it, “in the most Pavel Datsyuk way” possible. Datsyuk played his final game with CSKA Moscow, who he has been with since September, of the KHL on Sunday and delivered an absolutely nasty behind-the-back shootout goal in CSKA’s 3-2 SO win.
Watch the beauty below, and be thankful that talent like this is (FINALLY) returning stateside.
The NHL and its players’ association have reached a deal, in principle, on a new 10-year collective bargaining agreement. The proposed plan, which must be ratified and approved before the NHL releases the 2013 schedule, includes a $60 million salary cap this season — though teams could spend up to $70.2 million — and a $64.3 million cap in 2013-14.
What’s that mean for the...
With the NHL lockout ending today, this shootout goal will be the last goal that Pavel Datsyuk scores in the KHL, and was it an absolute beauty. I can’t wait to see him back playing for the Detroit Red Wings, because he is utterly incredible. There are a few details left to hammer out before the new CBA is signed, but hockey fans everywhere can rejoice, and get ready to see...
If the NHL makes its return this season, Red Wings forward Henrik Zetterberg looks to be in mid-season form. During a shootout against the SCL Tigers of the Swiss League, Zetterberg is seen here scoring with that one-handed move Red Wings fans have seen before. I wonder if they can get another advertisement on that jersey?
Yesterday you saw a Henrik Zetterberg one-handed shoot out goal for his Swiss League team EV Zug.
Here we see another remarkable shoot-out goal, this time by his Red Wing teammate (I refuse to call them the Euro Twins… so lame) Pavel Datsyuk while playing for his KHL team CSKA Moscow.
That goal ended up being the game winner as CSKA went on to beat Traktor 3-2. Datsyuk ended up...
Detroit Red Wing alternate captain Pavel Datsyuk wrapped up his KHL tour today with this behind-his-back shootout goal for CSKA Moscow against Traktor. Behind-the-back like he shot it from...
