from Ansar Khan of Mlive, Productivity from the top line typically is not a problem for the Detroit Red Wings because whoever plays with Pavel Datsyuk usually flourishes.
But that hasn’t been the case this season. The Red Wings’ first unit has struggled, particularly Datsyuk’s linemates. Henrik Zetterberg has just one goal and one assist and Danny Cleary has no goals and two assists through seven games.
The line has been intact, for the most part, since the second period of the second game, Oct. 8 at Colorado. Rather than shuffle lines after consecutive losses, coach Mike Babcock will give the group another chance tonight against the San Jose Sharks at Joe Louis Arena.

Bitter Babcock expects more effort
DETROIT -- What a difference a week makes.
Seven days ago, the Red Wings were cruising along with a perfect 5-0 record. They had back-to-back shutouts, balanced scoring and a favorable schedule, which put them in their customary spot -- at or near the top of the NHL standings.
