Pro Sports Daily:
According to NHL rumor guru Eklund, the Philadelphia Flyers are heavily pursuing Dustin Byfuglien of the Winnipeg Jets. Byfuglien has battled some weight and focus issues, but seems to have put all that in the past this year. He’s been outstanding for the Jets from the blue line, and is among the NHL’s top offensive-defensemen. Which is why it’s odd that the Flyers would be willing to trade some “untouchable” assets to land the defenseman-turned forward-turned defenseman. After all, isn’t that what Mark Streit and Kimmo Timonen are in town to do? Move the puck and basically act as a fourth forward on the play? While neither of those guys are on the right side of 30, Streit is locked up for the next four years while Timonen’s contract is over with at the end of 2013-14. Even if the Flyers are bringing in Byfuglien to be a “big and mean” presence on the blue line, he isn’t the kind of Shea Weber-like player the team has been pining for since Chris Pronger went down a few years ago....

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – UMass Lowell entered the Yost Ice Arena in Ann Arbor, Mich. on Saturday night to face the Michigan Wolverines as the underdog. However, the River Hawks left as the better school defeating the Wolverines, 2-1. Connor Hellebuyck became the first UMass Lowell goaltender to start back-to-back games and win back-to-back games and did so in front of his hometown crowd...
Evander Kane, one of the Winnipeg Jets top players was a question mark to play up until game time last night against the Stars of Dallas. The thought was he could or could not play.
Said Jets head coach Claude Noel, as per NHL.com, “Yeah, it was just maintenance. Game-time situation, we’ll see how he’s doing.” Kane, who is tied for the team lead in points, has eight in 11...
The UMass Lowell River Hawks took both games of a two-game road trip to the state of Michigan over the weekend, taking Friday night‘s tilt over the Michigan State Spartans, 4-1 and Saturday night‘s game against the Michigan Wolverines, 2-1. With their successful weekend, Hockey East has named the River Hawks the Hockey East Team of the Week. After starting the season off with...
In perhaps the most complete effort shown by the Winnipeg Jets the team has the results to show. A 2-1 shoot out win is never a glamorous way to win but in a visitors building, after a tough defeat the Jets played standard rosa game hockey and took a necessary 2 points vs a division rival.
Ondrej Pavelec had a solid if not great game with key saves that kept his team in th...
In the 11th game of the season, the Avalanche finally had to face an uphill battle entering the third period. The Avs, who had either led or were tied after two periods in their previous 10 games, trailed the visiting Winnipeg Jets after 40 minutes Sunday night and were hoping to take advantage of the Jets' shootout victory in Dallas the previous night.
For the first homecoming for Connor Hellebuyck and Adam Chapie, on ice turned out quite well for the UMass Lowell River Hawks. On Friday, the boys hit the ice fast scoring in the first period recording Joseph Gambardella’s (1) first collegiate goal. The Hawks added two goals to that lead in the second with goals from Stephen Buco (1) and Josh Holmstrom (1); the ladder of which...

Halloween is a time for dressing up and being scared by
goblins and ghouls. It's also a time for revealing what makes our spines tingle
and our flesh crawl. Here are 5 things that have me on edge about the Pens:
Engelland is playing wing because the Pens need toughness at wing. That’s
like saying I really want ketchup on my hot dog but we don’t have any...
