GLENDALE, ARIZONA — The National Hockey League today announced that Coyotes defenseman Keith Yandle has been selected to participate in the 2011 NHL All-Star game on Sunday, January 30. This marks Yandle’s first career NHL All-Star appearance.
Yandle leads the Coyotes in scoring with 40 points (7-33-40) and is currently on a team season-high, seven game assist streak (0-9-9). Yandle also ranks sixth overall in scoring among all NHL defenseman with 7-33-40 (just two points behind League leader and NHL All-Star Captain Nicklas Lidstrom of the Detroit Red Wings) and is tied for fourth overall among defenseman in power play scoring (2-18-20).
The 24-year-old Yandle has recorded 13 points (2-11-13) through 12 games in January. His 33 assists in 49 games are the most in franchise history since Phil Housley recorded 45 assists through the first 49 games in 1992-93 as a member of the Winnipeg Jets.
