Fox Sports North:
The Minnesota Wild's current seven-game losing streak has been marked by a dramatic dip in the offensive output and by absences of key players, most notably Captain Mikko Koivu. The Wild went into the Christmas break on a 0-5-2 run while scoring only 9 goals in those seven games.
That's why you bank as many points as possible early in the season, so when injuries strike the team there is some insurance built up to avoid dropping too far down in the standings. The Wild has at least bought enough time to stay in a great position and now the club gets Mikko Koivu back in the lineup this week.
Seems like the perfect time for 5 Questions with Wild head coach Mike Yeo:
KG: What kind of impact will the return of Mikko Koivu give your team?
YEO: It is absolutely huge for our team right now. Mikko is a complete hockey player and he does a little of everything for us. Our special teams will improve and our faceoff numbers will improve. He gives us the chance to have some depth at ...

SAINT PAULMINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - General Manager Chuck Fletcher announced Tuesday the Minnesota Wild has recalled right wing Jon DiSalvatore and defenseman Nate Prosser from the Houston Aeros. The Wild also placed defenseman Clayton Stoner on injured reserve.
The 30-year-old DiSalvatore leads the Aeros with 26 points in 32 games while serving as team captain. He led the Aeros with...
Mikko Koivu, the Wild's top center, captain and leader, will return to the lineup after missing five games with a leg injury.
For most of the season, the Minnesota Wild have been one of the surprise teams in the NHL, surging to the top of the Western Conference standings.
In December, the joy has come to screeching halt. Monday's 4-2 loss to Colorado dropped Minnesota to 0-5-2 in its past seven games. The Wild are the first team since the 1999 Avalanche to follow up a seven-game winning streak by losing...
TUCSON - To say Nick Johnson has been the University of Arizonas most positive surprise of the basketball season would be an understatement.
People knew he was good, but not this good.
Hes a freshman who balances being aggressive and being steady.
Sound and solid.
Affable and quotable.
And, a backcourt leader on a team thirsting for someone to step up on the perimeter.
Minnesota Wild center Mikko Koivu returned Monday against the Colorado Avalanche after missing the past four games with a leg injury.
Minnesota Wild defenseman Jared Spurgeon left Monday's contest against the Colorado Avalanche.
Not even the return of captain and leading scorer Mikko Koivu could help the Minnesota Wild end their losing streak.
If the Nashville Predators are going to break out of their brief funk, they'll have to do it without their own leader.
The Wild will look to snap a seven-game skid Wednesday night while the Predators try again to adapt to life without star defenseman Shea Weber...

Nashville is 0-1-0 against the Minnesota Wild this season. Minnesota will make their first trip of the s...
Enough is enough, these kind of hits make my blood boil and they are unnecessary, the NHL needs to through the book at Avalanche forward Cody McLeod for his ridiculously stupid and dangerous hit on Wild Defenseman Jared Spurgeon. There is no reason this hit shouldn't command at least a 2-4 game suspension.
In the last 13 days the Minnesota Wild have seen Lennart Petrell...
Season's greetings everyone. I hope that you're Christmas holiday, whether you observe it or not was an opportunity to spend some time with your family. For young kids, its usually all about the gifts. The anxious expectation of running to the family living room to see a tree stocked full of presents that taunt for you to open them. I have to admit, I was the kind...
The Minnesota Wild is taking practice to the great outdoors once again.
Like last year, the team will hold practice at the John Rose Oval in Roseville on Sunday, January 22 at noon. The outdoor practice will cap off a hockey-themed weekend ...
There are, as everybody knows, only two ways to get out of working on New Year's Eve: the first is to book the day off well in advance. The second is to do something stupid that gets you sent home.
Unfortunately for Colorado Avalanche forward Cody McLeod, with a December 31 tilt with the Anaheim Ducks just five days away, his only viable option was the second approach. Think...

The Minnesota Wild have done very well this year and catapulted out of the basement of the Western Conference to one point out of leading the Northwest Division. The additions of Dany Heatley and Devon Setoguchi have paid huge dividends and the backstopping from Backstrom and Harding has been impressive.
The Nashville Predators suffered a huge blow in the Dallas...
Jan Hejda scored the go-ahead goal at 10:20 of the third period and the Colorado Avalanche snapped a nine-game road losing skid by beating the Minnesota Wild 4-2 on Monday night. Colorado won on the road for the first time since Oct. 22 and extended Minnesota's winless streak to seven games. Ryan O'Reilly, Gabriel Landeskog and TJ Galiardi also scored for Colorado (19-17-1).
Colin Wilson scored the only goal in the shootout, and the Nashville Predators sent the Minnesota Wild to their seventh straight loss with a 2-1 victory on Wednesday night.
