The Toronto Maple Leafs have spent years searching for a top-six forward with superstar abilities, and some would tell you that Zach Parise of the New Jersey Devils is a player they have had their eye on for quite some time.

However, according to Steve Simmons of the Toronto Sun, Parise has no interest in playing for the Maple Leafs whatsoever. From Simmons:

Zach Parise has told some friends he wouldn’t consider Toronto in free agency this coming summer, which is interesting considering that his general manager Lou Lamoriello told me: “He’s a Devil. He’s not going anywhere.”

Adding fuel to the fire is that quote from Lamoriello given that Parise is even talking about heading to free agency.

Parise’s future with the Devils has been up in the air for a while now. Various trade rumours have had him going to New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Edmonton and other cities.

Parise, 27, has 62 points in 69 games with the Devils this season. The team’s captain, Parise will lead his team into the post-season this spring.
