Yesterday I posted the top 20 players in 2011/12 by their Corsi rating. Heading the list is Zdeno Chara. That is a success of Corsi ratings. Chara is a very good hockey player. I think he is the best defenceman in hockey. He is a Norris Trophy nominee and is my pick as the most deserving winner. There is a realistic possibility that Shea Weber wins the award because Chara is so good at the subtle parts of playing defence, such as positioning, that people underestimate his talent. Chara is a good defenceman every year and some dismiss his Norris chances because his year was no better than it has been in the past. In the past he has been Norris calibre and he remains at that level.
