Hagelin hit gave Alfredsson concussion

Daniel Alfredsson has confirmed he sustained a concussion in Game 2 of Ottawa's playoff series with New York when Rangers forward Carl Hagelin elbowed him in the head. However, the Senators captain participated in Monday's morning skate and said he's a game-time decision for Game 3 at night. Alfredsson missed more than half of Ottawa's series-tying victory Saturday...

Losing It with Matt Carkner

So Carkner wasted no time exacting his pound of flesh Saturday night, roughing up Boyle for a second before coldcocking him twice followed by a series of gratuitous body shots at ice level. Boyle's man-handling of Karlsson in the series opener set the stage for this incident, which many have argued was a deserved response. Maybe so, Carkner was just doing his job right...

Senators' Alfredsson skates with team, iffy for Game 3

Ottawa Senators captain Daniel Alfredsson participated in Monday's morning skate prior to Game 3 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinal series against the top-seeded New York Rangers. Alfredsson was injured after taking an elbow to the face in Saturday's Game 2 from fellow Swede Carl Hagelin, who was suspended for three contests. The veteran forward is questionable for...

Carkner Speaks on Boyle, Dubinsky on Misconduct

As we wait for the NHL's decision on Carl Hagelin's elbow to the head of Daniel Alfredsson, here are some quotes from Matt Carkner of the Senators and Brandon Dubinsky on last night's melee that kicked off Game 2 at Madison Square Garden.  Carkner on Boyle: Carkner: "I expected Boyle to defend himself. That obviously wasn't the case." #Sens ...

Guest recap: Rangers v. Senators, game 2

*None of us were able to watch the game last night, so the always reliable friend of the blog Glen Miller was able to give us an assist.  Don’t forget to give Glen’s current project, Fan Junkies a look, and follow Glen on Twitter.  Thanks again Glen! If evidence was needed to prove a hotly contested playoff series can turn any two teams into bitter rivals, look no further...

Alfredsson Passes Baseline Concussion Test

According to head coach Paul MacLean, Daniel Alfredsson has passed his baseline concussion test and depending on how the captain feels, he will be a game time decision tonight. In other words, having skated on the team's second line with Kyle Turris and Nick Foligno at this morning's practice, it would probably be foolish to dismiss Alfie's questionable status for game...

Henrik Lundqvist Denies The Senators goals Like He's The US President

Henrick Lundqvist owned the Ottawa Senators tonight by denying all 39 shots on goal. This is his fourth NHL playoff shutout. Brian Boyle put his 2 cents in by scoring for the 3rd straight game allowing the Rangers to inch past the Senators in game 3 with a 1-0 victory. Of course you need goal(s) to win a game, but I think 99% of the credit should be given to Lundqvist for shutting...

Rangers-Senators Preview

Carl Hagelin still seem stunned a day after laying out Swedish countryman Daniel Alfredsson with an elbow to the head that left the Ottawa captain with a possible concussion and landed the mild-mannered New York Rangers rookie in trouble with the NHL. To say that plays like this are out of character for the 23-year-old Hagelin would be an understatement. The speedy forward claims...
