Jan Hejda: Avalanche unsung hero
Yesterday Mike Chambers of the Denver Post had a write up at the Denver Post on Jan Hejda. I was unimpressed with his analysis.Let's first adress the (very slight) potshot at me:Don’t believe your little league anonymous blogger — plus-minus is hockey’s best overall statistic, Actually let's ignore the potshot and look at the content. You should question what I say...

No penalty on the play and I am not really sure why Hejda started going down before the hit. Did he see Torres coming or was it just a fall?

Hejda off the hook, Avs pound Devils 6-1
Indeed, the minus-16 rating for Avalanche “shutdown” defenseman Jan Hejda was a humiliating statistic for the kind of player who judges himself on that very figure. The affable Hejda smiled and took a big sigh when I asked him how his plus-3 (including his third goal of the season, two shy of his career high) felt in tonight’s 6-1 win over the New Jersey Devils.
Hejda is now...
