The Toronto Maple Leafs are placing forward Joffrey Lupul on the injured list due to the lower-body injury sustained in a shootout victory over Boston on New Year's Eve.
Lupul, injured in the second period Wednesday night, is returning to Toronto for further evaluation, the team says Thursday. The veteran left wing has nine goals and eight assists in 26 games this season.

While paying a visit to a children's hospital on Thursday, Maple Leafs forward Joffrey Lupul was interviewed by one of the team's young TV reporters, who wasted no time getting right to the point, asking if he had a girlfriend.
A flustered Lupul was clearly caught off guard and gave the following answer:
