Kings defenseman Ellerby adjusts to the West
The Kings acquired defenseman Keaton Ellerby from the Florida Panthers on Feb. 8 almost out of desperation, after they had lost defensemen Matt Greene (back surgery) and Willie Mitchell (knee surgery) for extended periods of time and before they lost Alec Martinez to an upper-body injury.
Martinez missed eight games and is scheduled to play Monday against Nashville, the first of...

Eklund: D-man Yardsale: Here Are 5 Readily Available Notables
It's no secret that teams around the NHL are looking to add some depth to their bluelines but except when there are bargains out there (such as Florida dumping off the once highly-touted Keaton Ellerby), the prices have been a bit too inflated for teams to pull the trigger.
It has been crazy just have many NHL teams have been scouring other teams rosters and inquiring about...
Defenseman Ellerby adjusts with the Kings
Defenseman Keaton Ellerby grew up in Western Canada and had played his entire NHL career in the Eastern Conference with the Florida Panthers.
Needless to say, an adjustment period will be required for the newest King. Ellerby was traded Friday and made his Kings debut on Sunday afternoon in a 3-2 loss at Detroit.
The Western Conference and the Eastern Conference is just completely...

Kings-Red Wings Preview
Although the Los Angeles Kings cruised through the Stanley Cup playoffs last year, their regular-season run was far from a cakewalk.
They're finding it tough sledding again, but they'll have a new face in the lineup as they continue a challenging five-game road trip Sunday against the Detroit Red Wings.
Los Angeles (3-4-2) has had problems all over the ice during this trek...

Matthew Barry: Bernier Next?
Last night on my blog I wrote "Trade Coming?" and 7 hours later, the Kings got a defenseman.
Why?
Because Willie Mitchell suddenly has a case of "I don't feel like playing." He was cleared to play weeks ago, but hasn't, and apparently settled a "setback" in his rehabilitation process.
The Keaton Ellerby trade is nice. It means the Kings...
Kings acquire Keaton Ellerby from Panthers
NASHVILLE The Kings essentially used a position of strength to try to shore up a position of recent weakness.
To do so, it took a two-step process in the last three days. On Friday, they acquired 6-foot-5 defenseman Keaton Ellerby from the Florida Panthers. They sent a fifth-round draft pick to the Panthers, which was the piece they got from the New Jersey Devils for prospect and...

Eklund: Six years later, LA Takes a Flier on Ellerby
Hockey is a funny little world sometimes. Back before the 2007 Draft, the consensus top two defense prospects were Karl Alzner and Keaton Ellerby. After the top three picks (as expected) were forwards Patrick Kane, James van Riemsdyk and Kyle Turris, the Los Angeles Kings had the fourth overall pick of the Draft.
LA did indeed pick a defenseman, but it was neither of the expected...
Dan Spiegel: Keaton Ellerby: Does Tallon Keep Him Or Let Him Go?
Is this RFA that was the 2007 10th overall pick a bust or just a victim of a numbers game? In 117 NHL games he has 2 goals and 15 assists and is -19.
While he hasn't shown much offensively, he has shown flashes of being very responsible at both ends of the ice. He is a good skater with average puck handling ability, but in all fairness has not been given a true chance to...
Opportunity has come for Florida Panthers’ Keaton Ellerby
A lot of puzzles come in pieces, and as Panthers defenseman Keaton Ellerby said, “We know it’s a big piece of the puzzle that went missing Monday night.”
