Pittsburgh Penguins Recall Two WBS Defensemen
The Pittsburgh Penguins announced earlier today that they have recalled two defensemen, Simon Despres and Brian Strait, from their AHL affiliate, the WBS Baby Penguins.
With this call-up, it looks like Matt Niskanen will miss a third game and Ben Lovejoy will be kept out of the lineup for the game tomorrow night against the New York Islanders at the CONSOL Energy Center. My guess...

Niskanen takes it personally
Matt Niskanen is not a guy who often draws attention to himself. But he made it clear that the Penguins game tonight in Dallas is a lot more to him than just No. 63 of his team's 82 games this season.

Penguins' Deal for Neal, Niskanen Paying off Handsomely

Given the deal, many believed Shero had incriminating photos of Nieuwendyk hidden in a desk drawer somewhere in the CONSOL Energy Center.
Goligoski was often...

NHL Fines Brad Marchand $2,500 for Slew Foot on Pittsburgh's Matt Niskanen
Bruins forward Brad Marchand didn't exactly get away scot free for his slew foot on Pittsburgh defenseman Matt Niskanen last week. Marchand was given two minutes for tripping and took a few punches from Niskanen in the scrap that followed. But on Monday, the NHL decided that was not enough of a punishment, and announced that Marchand has been fined $2,500 for slew-footing. That...

Niskanen earns keep on defense
The Penguins roster of defensemen posed a problem when training camp opened last month: Too many players on NHL contracts. Matt Niskanen, a 24-year-old who looked a step behind after being acquired from Dallas in February, seemed to be the most likely odd man out. Then, Niskanen started turning heads.
