Game 53 Preview: Dallas Stars @ Columbus Blue Jackets
Dallas Stars (27-23-2, 56 points) @ Columbus Blue Jackets (15-32-6, 36 pts)
6:00 PM CT, February 9, 2012
Nationwide Arena, Columbus, Ohio
If there's any team that Dallas would want to face coming off an embarrassing 4-1 loss to the Phoenix Coyotes, it would have to be the Columbus Blue Jackets. Playing the worst team in the NHL is never bad thing, especially when each and...

Bill Meltzer: Stars Gameday: 2/9/12 @ Blue Jackets
PREVIEW 7:45 AM CST
If the Dallas Stars (27-23-2) are going to make a serious push to stay in the playoff race in the Western Conference, they will need to start stringing together some consecutive wins. Coming off a disappointing effort in Tuesday night's loss to Phoenix, the Stars must show a sense of urgency when they visit the Columbus Blue Jackets (15-32-6) tonight. The...

STARS NEED TO CHOOSE A DIRECTION
So here we are again – the trade deadline is looming and the Stars are right in the mix for the last playoff spot in the West, just on the outs. The difference this year is that the veteran players are exactly one year older and unless a miracle happens in the next few months, the window of opportunity for those veterans to win with the Stars, as well as for the Stars to win...

Stars dominated in 4-1 loss to Coyotes
Final
Dallas 1 - Phoenix 4
There are a lot of ways to react to a loss like the one that Dallas had last night: Anger, embarrassment, indignation, pity, sadness but I felt only one thing, apathy. I just couldn't get angry over how poorly the Stars played in one of the most critical games of the season because that's what the Stars have become this year. They are a team that...

Bill Meltzer: Star Gazing: 2/8/12
The Dallas Stars continued their pattern of taking one step backward after a step ahead. It hurt to lose last night's winnable home ice divisional game to Phoenix, 4-1.
A few minutes after Michael Ryder erased a 1-0 deficit with an early second-period tally (his team-leading 19th of the season), Dallas had a golden opportunity to seize control of the game. The Stars gained...

Who should the Stars put on the trade block?
The NHL trade deadline now looms only three weeks away (Feb. 27) and for the fourth straight season, it seems the Stars are stuck in no man's land. Dallas isn't quite good enough to make the playoffs (or go very far into them if they manage to sneak in) and aren't quite bad enough to be completely out of the picture. In those past seasons Dallas has actually been buyers...

Reeling Stars ready for All-Star break
In the wake of Saturday's 5-2 loss at Minnesota, the Dallas Stars are now riding a five-game losing streak. Glen Gulutzan's club now has but one game remaining before the NHL All-Star break commences on Wednesday, a Tuesday night date with Anaheim.
And for those who think the Ducks might be a sure "W" like they were earlier in the season, think again. New head...

Souray's imminent return will bolster Dallas blue line
With Stephane Robidas returning to the ice last week, the Dallas Stars got a big boost at the blue line with their most seasoned defensemen returning to the fold in Thursday's win at Nashville.
Now as the Stars set out on a two-game Pacific Division road trip that begins on Tuesday night in Anaheim, Dallas could get another key member of their defensive corps in Sheldon Souray...
