Oscar Pistorius the man who is accused of the premeditated Murder of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp apparently had tract meets he was to compete in. His agent Peet van Zyl has said he is canceling all events indefinitely. Pistorius is being held at the police station in Pretoria awaiting a bail hearing that is scheduled for some time Tuesday. Earlier in the weekend some of Pistorius’s family members made statements saying the former double amputee runner did not commit premeditated murder in the killing of Steenkamp. I is going to be difficult to say what the court will do about bail come Tuesday. This is a very unique case, there aren’t too many people in the world with out their lower limbs that have committed murder. Is Pistorius a flight risk? Where could a man go that has his fame and not be noticed? The odd thing now is the fact that his agent is saying Pistorius’s two main sponsors, Nike and Oakley are safe for now. one would think they would have more things to worry about other sponsors. If convicted of premeditated murder Pistorius could spend the rest of his life behind bars. It is going to be interesting to see how the former Olympian is going to defend himself. In earlier versions of his story allegedly he thought Steenkamp was an intruder and he shot her 4 times. Again I find it hard to believe that a person who is an expert marksman had trouble identifying the women he was dating for several months. Someone who shots as well as Pistorius reportedly does, should have been able to recognize she wasn’t an intruder. If Pistorius’s Agent and his client are worried about sponsors at a time like this, he should consider approaching the company that makes snickers bars. van Zyl may be able to land his client a deal with them to do a snickers bar commercial. You remember the slogan don’t you? “Not Going Anywhere For A while”. Because if things play out the way the prosecutor and the police think they will with the charges they are filing, then Pistorius certainly will not be going anywhere for a long long time. Nor should he.
