South African rugby player Ernst Joubert, vice captain for Saracens in the Aviva Premiership, is currently with his squad as they participate in the Heineken Cup. This past Saturday Saracens faced off against Ulster, with Saracens walking away with the 27-16 victory, and Joubert walking away with this horrible broken nose, a stark reminder of how brutal a sport rugby is. Here’s...
Rugby is a rough sport. No doubt about it. Even for the referees.Referee Mathieu Raynal is certainly evidence of this after sustaining some horrific injuries while officiating a rugby match over the weekend.Raynal suffered a fractured tibia and fibula after a player rolled up his leg. And as if that wasn't enough, Raynal also suffered a broken collarbone when landing on the ground...
BUTT OF THE JOKE
A streaker stole the show at a pre-season rugby match in New Zealand over the weekend between the Vodafone Warriors and the NRMA Insurance Broncos. The speedy streaker took off and had a decent run going until Warriors strength and conditioning coach (and former player) Ruben Wiki tackled him from behind. How soon after making the tackle did Ruben Wiki regret his decision? Was it...
IT'S RAINING MEN
You know the old saying, "What Happens in Las Vegas, Stays in Las Vegas?" Well, one wayward skydiver wishes that was the case as he accidentally mistimed his landing at a Rugby Sevens World Series game in Las Vegas. The skydiver was supposed to land on the field inbetween matches but due to some wind and timing problems, he landed during a game between the Fiji and Samoa:
COME TO BLOWS

Earlier this week at a Premiership Rugby match in Ireland between Quins and Saracens, a man was hit in the head as the ball went into the stands. To make matters worse, the man was coming out of the tunnel carrying two fresh beers, which presumably he had just purchased, and dropped both of them.
The man appeared to be OK and had a really big laugh at his own expense.
Paul Wood of the Warrington Wolves of England’s Super League ruptured his testicle during a match but continued playing. And then things actually got worse.
During South Sydney’s 36-14 NRL win over St George Illawarra, Greg Inglis lined up an opposing player and absolutely crushed him with an illegal high hit. Greg Inglis faces a five-match ban, which was just handed down, after being charged with a ‘grade 4 careless high tackle charge’ on Dean Young. You can see from the below video, that the hit was as big and vicious as you...
Talk about raising the stakes. Ireland’s U-20 rugby side has just shown their senior counterparts just what is possible when you play hard and smart. The young Irish side outplayed, out-thought and out-muscled their South African hosts before putting the ‘Baby Boks’ to the sword. It’s a huge marker to lay down at the beginning of [...]
FEATS OF STRENGTH
Rugby players are hulking men who are some of the toughest S.O.B.s on the planet because the game itself is a rough and tumble affair with players wearing not a stitch of protective clothing. Plus it has guys like Tendai “Beast” Mtawarira, a Zimbabwean-born rugby union player for the Sharks of the Super Rugby league playing in it, and as you’re about to see, Mtawarira...
How’s the air up there mate?
Check out this leaping hanger made by Melbourne Demons rugby player Jeremy Howe. Howe appears to jump onto the shoulders of his opponent while attempting to corral the free ball. Sadly this would be the lone highlight for the Demons, as they would go on to lose to the Sydney Swans 138-37!

CRIKEY VEGEMITE SANDWICH
Those of you that follow this site closely will know my admiration for nearly everything Aussie, especially their sports and commentators. I'm more of a rugby union and Aussie Rules football fan myself, but this video from the NRL, Australia's National Rugby League, is too good not to share. The following video takes us to the rivalry game between the Sydney Roosters and...
Rugby is a confusing sport, so let these very attractive young women illustrate the rules for you…IN LINGERIE!
If rugby doesn’t interest you but hot chicks do, then just watch this clip. These “experts” that are wearing next to nothing scrum, ruck, and tackle one another all in an effort to teach you about the sport they love. Lingerie rugby has just become...
Quite the ruckus ensued during a Top 14 rugby match when Lucien Harinordoquy, the father of Biarritz No8 Imanol Harinordoquy, strolled onto the pitch to defend his son when a bit of a fracas broke out between players on his son’s team and the rugby club from Bayonne. If that wasn’t enough, once Papa Harinordoquy [...]
All Blacks captain Richie McCaw dragged himself slowly, painfully to his feet four minutes from the end of Sunday's Rugby World Cup final and with his team clinging to a one-point lead.
