Jackson Hole Announces New Sublette Lift For Next Season

Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, Wyoming, will replace its four-seater fixed-grip Sublette lift with a faster and more powerful detachable quad this summer.

JHMR plans to have the new lift ready for the 2024-2025 season.

The replacement lift—a Leitner-Poma—will reduce Sublette's ride time from eight to four minutes, climbing approximately 1,600 vertical feet at 1,000 feet per minute. JHMR is replacing its 37-year-old predecessor due to its age.

The original Sublette, constructed in 1987, was JHMR's first quad. The lift accesses a slew of intermediate and gnarly expert terrain below the resort's iconic Aerial Tram. This, paired with its propensity towards experiencing high winds, has made Sublette a popular destination for thrill-seeking skiers.

Its replacement is the second major lift infrastructure improvement at JHMR in the past three years, following the upgrade of the Thunder Lift in 2022.

JHMR's winter operations ended on April 14th, with 143 lift-accessed skiing and riding days. Thanks to a seven-day extension announced last spring, it was the longest season in the resort's history.

While JHMR experienced a slow start snowfall-wise this winter, the powder faucets turned on as the season progressed, particularly in February and March.

Between March 1st and 2nd, JHMR reported 29 inches of snowfall, the highest total recorded at the resort in a 24 window. By the end of that month, the resort had received 99 inches of snow in its Rendezvous Bowl, marking a tie for the 8th snowiest March on record.

"The 2023-24 season at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort proved that winter always comes to the Tetons," said JHMR President Mary Kate Buckley. "The late-season snowfall was record-breaking and gave our visitors the chance to experience the resort in ideal conditions."
