Most people think news of divorce is always sad and tragic. Not so; especially in this case. The girl with the hottest legs on the planet, Lindsey Vonn, is back on the market, and that’s a good thing.

To quote Lloyd Christmas from (aptly, a ski lodge scene) in Dumb and Dumber, “so you’re saying there’s a chance?”

That’s right Lindsey Vonn, the hottest Olympian from the 2010 games is getting a divorce!

Since this is a winter sport, I now turn it over to our Canadian friends in the media. From the Winnipeg Free Press

After four years of marriage, Lindsey Vonn is splitting with Thomas Vonn, who also serves as her chief adviser and assists as a coach.

The Olympic gold medallist skier confirmed Sunday night the couple has started divorce proceedings.

“This is an extremely difficult time in my personal life and I hope the media and my fans can respect my need for privacy on this matter,” she said in a statement to The Associated Press. Thomas Vonn said in an email to the AP he filed for divorce last Monday.

Lindsey Vonn was known as Lindsey Kildow before marrying Sept. 29, 2007. It’s unclear whether she will keep her name or go back to Kildow. The U.S. Ski Team did not have an answer and emails left for Vonn’s representatives were not returned.

She added in her statement she will continue to be coached by the U.S. team and looks forward to competing the rest of the season.

The 27-year-old also had a falling out with her father a few years ago. Word is some of the tension came from her relationship with Thomas Vonn, a 36 year old former U.S. Olympic skier.

Maybe going to Homecoming with a 15 year old kid last month didn’t help/was a precursor?

Vonn has become one of the top racers in U.S. history, winning three overall World Cup titles; Her 42 World Cup wins, tying her with Sweden’s Anja Paerson for fourth place on the career list.
