Lindsey Vonn was in the middle of a remarkable comeback from a terrible knee injury she suffered nine months ago and looked to be headed for a return for the Winter Olympics in February. But on Tuesday she crashed during a practice run in Copper Mountain, Colorado and as a result she partially tore the surgically-repaired ACL in her right knee. Vonn tore her her ACL and MCL after a crash in Austria nine months ago, putting her status for the Sochi Olympics in doubt. But her recovery was on schedule until Tuesday, when she crashed and re-injured the same knee. Vonn had been aiming to return to World Cup competition for the first time next week in Beaver Creek, Colorado. Vonn also suffered a bruised shoulder blade and “minor facial abrasions.” Lewis Kay, Vonn’s personal publicist, said that Vonn will rest for a few days then “pursue aggressive physical therapy and will determine the next time she is able to compete after seeing how she responds to the treatment.” From that statement ...
