The North London giants have served notice that they deserve acclaim as potential champions? this season. A month into the new campaign and Arsenal stand at the summit of the Premier League with arch-rivals Tottenham second on goals scored. Friends from the north of England will quickly point out that trophies don’t get handed out in September but fans at the Emirates and White Hart Lane are excited by what they see from their rejuvenated teams. Arsene Wenger hailed Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey after the duo inspired Arsenal to their latest victory. The Arsenal boss Wenger also revealed his injury problems are mounting with Santi Cazorla set to miss the next month with an ankle problem. Club record-signing Ozil set up Olivier Giroud’s opener and Ramsey scored twice in Arsenal’s 3-1 success against Sunderland. Arsenal’s £42.4million signing was superb in the first-half also creating good chances for Theo Walcott before Ramsey took over after the break. Wenger said: “Ozil had an outstanding first half and created plenty of chances. He was sick on Thursday and I only decided to play him on the morning of the game. “If Cazorla had been fit then I would not have taken the gamble. Ozil would have started on the bench.
